Default Tech info for JDM PF mirror

Start out the day early to paint these jdm PF mirror (base only). By the end of the day it was dry and ready to be put on the car. Took off my USDM mirror off my R, remove the cover and put it on the JDM PF mirror (didn't want the round look). After the install I sat in the R and try to adjust them. Well I coundn't see JACK no matter how much I turn and rotate the mirror. Now I am pissed...

I took both of the and put it side to side to compare them. As you can see the JDM mirror on the right have more angle in toward the car. On the passenger side is more toward out.

I took both driver USDM passenger side JDM mirror apart (I mean all apart) and use the JDM PF motor on the USDM mounting base. I had to use a dremel on the USDM base to make the JDM PF motor to fit and 3 washer to lift it up. The result is that I retain the USDM view on the mirror with the JDM twist. I didn't have to do it to the passenger side because there is no need to. The day was well spent on the JDM bling bling...

Nice, I had to do the same thing to get any decent view out the driver's side. The procedure for taking the mirrors apart is in the helms manual

wow, you are the biggest stud I know. nice writeup! I wish I had this info available to me when I did my EK mirrors. Actually, come to think of it. There are no USDM equivalents to JDM EK mirrors, so this might not have helped me at all. Heh... Good info for teg and eg owners though.

Driving condition in Asia is totally different from that in the US. That's why they need a folding mirror and the angle of reflection is much closer towards the car.

I've driven in Asia before and ALL the side mirrors were basically pointing at the car itself because of their bumper to bumper, hmmm should be panel to panel, traffic everyday.

You're driving in the US, why did you need/want a JDM PF mirror?

When I park in my garage or any tight parking space. I park the car as close as I can to the wall (not super close) plus is a cool bling bling.

DC2R714 did a full install write up which can be found here. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=443873

Ok here is the installation for making the mirror fold in with alarm arm and disarm fuction. NOTE you must disable your AUTO IGNITION DOOR LOCK FEATURE ON THE ALARM if you have one (that mean when you turn on the key the door lock and unlock when you turn off the IGN.

You will need 1 relay and 2 diode (directional oneway)

You will need to convert the - pulse on your alarm arm/disarm wires to + output.

Put the diode on each wire (one on the lock side and one on the unlock side make sure the diode flow is going out toward the relay #85)

Put the 2 end of the diode together to make one wire that will go to # 85 on the relay.

#86 and 30 will be 12 volts contant.

#87 will be your triger wire that goes to #3 on the PF mirror relay box(when you press on the alarm this will send 12v to the #3 on the PF mirror relay box. Thats pretty much it.

Since I am such a STUD I also wired it to my truck release wire so I can operated with my 2nd button without arming or disarming the alarm. Hahahahhahahaha

Just found out to day. The mirror will fold in/out also using the key if you dont want to turn on the alarm.

In the driver door (lock mode only) because no signal is sent to the other locks.

If you used the key in the passenger or trunk this will operate in/out both ways with out arming the alarm.

can someone with a helms tell where to start on taking the shells apart from the rest of the mirror?

I have the JDM mirrors and I wanna swap the base/inned motor with the USDM mirrors. But I have a cheapo Haynes repair manual that doesnt go into detail aside from how to just remove the morrors.

I'm working on it, I need someone with a Helms to direct me on how to take the housing of the side mirrors apart.

once I swap the mirrors out, I'm going to try an find an OEM relay, it that doesnt work then I'll try using the radio shack relay, but fro mwhat I've read it only stays folded while the botton is pressed. so that sucks.

The reason the angle is different from the US to the JDM stuff, is because the driver of a JDM car is sitting on the opposite side of the car. That is why you didn't have to mess with the right side mirror.

My friend took these pics and was surprised that much of what he had heard about Japan was just myths. No bumper to bumper here:

Wow, so instead of driving around, you get towed around. That's awesome dood. Saves gas, mileage on car, and all the frustration of dealing with bumper to bumper track. Not that's what I call Car Pooling!

this is a little off topic, but that looks like the USDM accord on that flatbed, I thought only the US got that bulky accord body?

btw just swapped the USDM housing and the JDM motor is in it, and it worked great, havent wires up everything yet, but it fit like a glove, no need for alterations or washers, and it is just like my old mirrors, only when I'm donw wiring them, they will fold automatically.

and on top of that, I saved about 80 bucks on paint.
