Haha, I've got a pan from our '85 S sitting around here that looks like that. I knew something was wrong when the car started running on three cylinders and smoking before I shut it off. I knew something was really wrong when I pulled the head off and 3 of the 4 cylinders were at top-dead-center ! The f'ing wrist pin ripped out and it, the bottom of the piston, the connecting rod, and the bearings were in the bottom of the pan. Please don't ask how something like that could happen - I like learning things the hard way.

The sad thing is that the blame will be placed on the car.

He wasn't racing.

If you guys are interested in the story, why not just click the link I posted?

He made an abusive stupid mistake.

Sh*t happens.

The Real problem is that on one of the forums I found it on had more than a few people either downing Honda's for exploding for no reason (not even realizing this issue as driver error) OR blaming this issue on the RSX's design and saying that this kind of thing has happened before and is an Error on Honda's/Acura's design.

I don't know too many cars that Could survive a 7K RPM downshift from 5th gear to 2nd at WOT without any issues... (Regardless of if he correctly revmatched ) At least not too many if any of our cars... Race cars aside please...

Jesus that thing must have revved to 20K

I just don't understand why you would go from 5th to 4th on purpose @ 7K when redline is 8K....

I'm not even sure how many cars would survive a 7k RPM downshift from 5th to 4th

He was in trouble whichever gear he was going to (other than 6th)

The story explains clearly that he after revving out all gears..he spontaneously wanted to drop it back into 4th while he was at 7k rpms in 5th....Have some common sense here man...does it sound like to you ..this guy was just accerlating enough to get to the speed limit?
