Help me fix the Prelude curse!!! SHOCK KNOCK
I've had shock knock for 2 years and counting. Its driving me crazy!!!! I have tried just about every fix as well. It seems once I try a new fix that makes it quiet, it goes away, but re-awakens the next day. Has anyone riding on an aftermarket suspension actually cured this?!?!?!
BTW im on H&R Race Springs, and KYB AGX Shocks.

Honda bulitin says its from the collar going through the bushing. It compresses over time and needs to be replaced. I'll be taking my rear suspension off for a third time due to this noise.

How much is this part and where can it be had, or not?

Okay here's what you do to get rid of the knock, it's easy.
1:Unbolt the suspension in the trunk. (just take that one bolt and standard ring off)
2:Get one or two metal "o" rings that fit over the suspension and place one of them (or two) over the suspension.
3:When you've placed the ring(s)put the bolt and standard ring back(if you did it right the extra rings should be under the standard ring).
4:Before tightning, centre the additional rings.
5:Tighten the bolt.
For me this worked and i didn't hear any more knocking.

So padding that rear cross-brace didn't fix it like you said? List everything you've tried, and somebody might be able to help more. As it is right now, the only suggestion is to do the 00-090 replacement collar TSB.
For me, the replacement shock collars did the trick - fixed it on the stock suspension, and it remained fixed when I went to the H&R sport/KYB AGX combo. Although the washer trick can help, it was developed before the replacement collars are available - they're a better cure.

Ive tried EVERY known fix for shock knock. The only thing is that ive shaved down my stock collars to the tsb specs (to the exact mm of height). This didnt seem to do jack squat. Tried the shim/washer trick to no avail. The padding under the rear brace fixed it when i was stock, but when I went back to my aftermarket setup, knocked again.
I'd go ahead & get the real collars. You may be confident that your shaved ones are exactly the same, but it's one variable that's inexepensive to resolve. Once you're sure of them, you can move on to other possibilities.
What about exhaust/sway bar interaction? Some exhausts have been known to bang on the rear sway (stock & aftermarket) under hard acceleration or with lots of weight in the trunk/backseat. Check for scuffs where the two might be hitting eachother.

I get this shock knock noise only when braking. its ok in the cold but horrible when its nice out, lately its been horrible too. is it shock knock? Or is this something to do with my brakes? Ive taken it to 7 places and I've received 7 different opinions on whats wrong.

Yeah, I want to try to get the part number so I can get rid of this shock knock when going over uneven road.

I assume you guys did a search for this issue..I remember someone posting up how to correct the issue w/foam rubber or something. (I know someone mentioned it didn't work for them already.)
My policy on this issue is...turn up your stereo.

It sounds like a clunking noise coming from the trunk...really annoying.
