Pics of my white ek with wheels and suspension.
Well, after some hard research and a couple trips to auto xing, i decided the suspension of choice would be koni yellows and ground controls with custom spring rates of 450lbs f and 400lbs r. also after driving to one of the auto x's my front passenger side tire blew up so i decided to get new wheels and tires also... well here they are.. rota group n's( yea i know.. rotas right?) well rotas look nice and they are good quality and they fit my budget($400 for all four wheels). next mod should be engine swap... but for now i'll practice in the street touring class in auto x.
yea they painted all my jambs. the paint job was 2100 and yes i chose for all my moldings and whatever was black to stay black.. and i chose for my stock emblems to stay there... =P. i just like the panda styling i guess. but as far as price for paintjob, i think it was pretty decent price considering it was in the worst body condition before with large basketball sized dents in the driver side door and the rear hatch. and dents on everyother panel and had to get a new front bumper.

hmm i've seen a couple.. i used to own a midori green ek also... until last october where some ucf students crashed into me(im a ucf student also though =P)but i remember seeing a midori green ek at ucf all the time whenever i park in the parking garage. and like a couple of other ones around UCF
mine is lowered with paint matched side skirts, door handles, and moldings and has black Rota SS. I think its the only one like it here in town. Just wondered if you seen me around. I use to follow your post when you had your Midori hatch!
i see.. dang man.. yea i don't think i've seen it around.. cuz i am usually on the east side of town. thanks for all of the nice comments though man... i had my midori green ek for one month before it got totalled
I use to live in Oviedo and have alot of friends that go to UCF so im in that area alot. Have you seen that white Spoon S2K around UCF? You may know some of my friends out there? Anyway keep up the good work Man

how do you like your spring rates? only reason i ask is that it is unusual - most people, if they go custom, prefer higher spring rate in the rear. are you running any type of sway bar? i am on the verge of ordering custom rates myself on my 96 coupe, and am figuring 400 front and 400-500 rear. my current gc's are 325/250 (off the shelf). and 450 seems high for the front - most people don't go there unless they have a swapped h22 in there.
very interested in your opinion - not trying to be a jackass. probabaly should move this into roadracing forum, but hey, you brought it up. or was that me...
btw, those rims kick ***, except for that red stripe. just doesn't fit your car. what would really fit is a oem honda lip, like i just picked up. look for threads started by me, theres a recent post all about it.

Yea i thought some people might of been questioning about the spring rates, but think about it. If you see professionally built civics for autocross that still retain the original d series engines in order to stay in a certain class, they'll have slightly stiffer rates in the rear, for example there was an ef with 400f and 450r. But you gota think about the engine wieght also. the d series engine was a whole lot lighter than the b series, plus there is the d series tranny which i believe is lighter also. But if you see spring rates in japan that come with the suspension setups.. for civics anyways, usually the spring rates in the rear a a bit lower than the fronts. This is because the spring rates were made for civics with b series engines in them stock. i talked to many people about this and why the japanese seem to like stiffer in front than rear, and this explains it. also, i'm about to get a b-series engine(b18c5) put into my car so i went ahead and bought my spring rates with 450f and 400r. When i told the ground control guy the spring rates i wanted, he didnt say that the fronts were stiff or anything, he told me that the rears were really stiff and my rear might break loose if i'm not careful. So as you can see this explains why every aftermarket company that makes coilovers for the civic usually has the rates in front set a lil stiffer than the rear for a reason.
correct me if i'm wrong, i probably am.

Well, I'm no expert either but I think why the aftermarket here offer the rates in front stiffer and rear softer is they're just bumping up the stock rates proportionally. I bet they also do it to keep some understeer in the car too. They don't want to be giving every joe schmoe high rear rates and then a lot of people complain that the tail comes around and they're getting into accidents. If you custom order them that way then they figure you know what you're doing and/or what the consequences of that will be. I know a lot of the japanese tuners offer the softer rears and that has been the trend there for a while but it seems that some of the racers are taking what we do into consideration and putting higher rear rates. I've got 350f/450r with sway bars front and rear and 450 isn't really high for this car. Don't forget it's in the 2300lb+ range. And I wouldn't say it's tail happy either. If I wanted a nice setup I would probably go with 400f and 500r. My setup is nice but not as nuetral as I would like it and it is a little soft up front for auto-xing. It's a good combo on the street though. I do have a b16a swap but you should try swapping your set front/rear and see what happens.

good input, but i was also wondering how much does a d-series engine wiegh in comparison to a b-series engine(including tranny) i would think a bigger difference than the difference between an h-series and a b-series. and if you subtract the difference in wieght from the front spring rates, you'de get something lower than what the rear spring rates are. but you do have a point. i could always set my rear shocks to stiffer than fronts also.. which is what i will be doing at autocrosses till i get my swap in. But like i said earlier, many people have already told me that having 450f and 400r would counter act the extra wieght of dropping in a swap, and if all of them are wrong, i could always do like you said and swap the fronts for the rears
oh yea also remember that my vehicle is a hatchback compared to your coupe. meaning i have less of a rear end.. and doesn't need as stiff rates in the rear =P

oh, the one in my sig is gone. I've got a 2000 DX hatch. The 450lb springs in front more than make up for the extra weight of your swap. Like I said I've got 350f and that makes up for it also. It's just how you want the car to handle. I like it to understeer less so i like the 450 in the rear and i crank up my rear shocks all the way. Still not really tail happy but if you lift it will break loose. 450f/400r will just make the car push that much more. It is personal preference though.

This is where I ordered mine. As wheels alone they're kind of expencive, but the wheels+tires(mounted and balanced)+lug nuts+ hub rings is a sweet deal.
