Tracking your car via the web...
I saw this report on the local news here tonight. They talk about a tracking device parents can have installed in their teenage childs car which monitors the car's location, speed, etc. The device costs about $300 and you have to pay for airtime (uses a wireless phone connection). Since I'd only use it if my car was stolen I figure that wouldn't amount to much, but even if it costs me $20-$40 a month I think it would be worth it. Especially if they had a PDA or CellPhone capable web page and I could check on it while I was at the mall, etc. I'm seriously considering this once there is a provider in my area.
Just wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone thought it was a viable security enhancement.

i think its a good idea and its been discussed before...usin a child locator to protect ur car...however the high price of activation and service turned a lot of people off to the idea

Geo-fencing.
It's a good idea. bit costly right now.
Any car I felt was worthy of a gps alarm, would not be driven by my kids, though...
