Default 1st time painting valve cover....

Well i'm gonna be painting my LS valve cover so I decided to test first on a sohc valve cover I had lying around....I used Plasti-Kote wrinkle paint purchased from Advanced Autoparts..I think it turned out good...you can't really see the wrinkles from the pic...i'll try and take a better pic:

Can't really see the detail of the paint unless you get a better shot at better angle..

i heard you could use some kind of jell to cover it up then after you paint it...it just wipes right off

Or just sand it down once it dries. Looks good dude.

Sanding it makes the letters loose their shine, it's weird..

Just cover them with petroleum jelly before you spray the valvecover and it will come of super easy with a razor blade after the rest of the valvecover is dry..

Good job on that sohc..

That's exactly what I did! I used Petroleum Jelly and applied it on with a Q-tip and after I painted it and let it dry, I scraped it off with a razor. I heard you can also use Chapstick....
But if you want the Honda emblem or the VTEC lettering painted a different color the petroleum jelly will eat the paint off....maybe the chapstick would be safe in that instance...

i went to a carshow this weekend, some kid had pained his valvecover(yellow) with it still on the motor, and got overspray everywhere, and painted the nuts and posts blue with a brush. It was the shittiest thing ive ever seen.
