Install a stolen engine?
actually if you take or buy a stolen motor incertain states its considered a crime too i know here in ga if you buy any stolen property you get charged with theft by receiving even if someone gives you something for free you still get charged even if you buy it and you never knew anything you still get charged. kinda messed up i feel bad for people who are sunsuspecting but it is the law.
I hope your smarter than that
I would rather work my *** off all summer to purchase a swap, than to get a "smokin" deal on some motor that was probably stolen off someone just like you!!! Hope you think about it.
No, not thinking of going that route. I was offered one, but I am not about to call the authorities on this guy. In fact, I don't even know the guy. It's a friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend kinda deal and I don't even know if there is any truth to this. From what I heard, it sounds like a very nice setup. I don't know where it was taken from (or if it is in fact stolen - although it probably). The guy who told me about it said there was no serial number on the block. I told him that JDM engines don't have any, then he told me that he thinks it's USDM, so chances are it is in fact stolen engine.
Just curious as to how the H-T population would react to such an offer.

Theft is not something taken very lightly here, or anywhere for that matter.

I agree...
I hope you don't consider this option. Someone worked his/her *** off for that engine and I personally wouldn't want that to happen to me.
Also it would suck to get busted for recieving stolen property.

I had my car w/ $10,000.00 worth of work stolen this past winter and saw none of the insurance money for the parts. Although there's nothing that can change that the parts were already stolen, you're essentially encouraging theft.
Work for what you get, it builds character.

Hahahaha, and then get busted for receiving stolen property
If you do decide to buy this "hot" motor I will track you down or at least try to and report you to the authorities. By buying it all you are doing is promoting theft and that is just as bad as doing the actual steeling. Just think about how the guy who had this motor originally now feels.

Yea, I was thinking about trying to find out who the thieves are, but I don't really feel like getting involved in that kinda of stuff. I too, hate theives. In fact, three of my friends had they motorcycles stolen in the past month. Unfortunately I don't have a garage where I live so now I tie a nice big chain to my bike a secure it to my house (foundation) and of course I always have my disc lock and steering lock.
I find it's kind of weird though how somebody would just walk up to me and offer me a stolen engine? Who would want to advertise such a thing? I obviously told him no and said that I don't want to be involved, so I told him not to tell me who even has it right now. I figure the less I know about it, the less chances there are of me getting involved.
I noticed that theft is frowned upon here at H-T and quite frankly I'm impressed. It's nice to see good honest people out there.

well probably a lot of us has had something stolen in the past wether it be wheels (like me) or there whole car... people really don't understand how violated or paraniod you feel after that stuff happens, thieves need to be delt with like they were way back when...
In regards to Quik Chris' comment about not getting anything back from insurance. Didn't you insure your car for what it was worth? When I modify my motorcycle, I let them know, keep my receipts, and take pictures. If anything happens I'm covered. The same applies to my car. In the ned you might end up pay slightly more for you policy but if something were to happen, at least you're covered.
But that's besides the point.

The truly righteous thing would be to turn the guy in to the authorities. The least you can do is not buy the stolen engine from him. The worst you could do is buy the engine, you contribute to the crime and you could also find yourself in a load of trouble because of it. Not worth it.
Anybody know what this guy's problem is? I guess your mom dropped you on your head one too many times? Poor little BCRUZ. I come on here and not once do I ever try to start anything and this is the kind of attitude I get from this **** scab?
