type s cams
I haven't done extensive research as to whether or not there safe and compatable. But from some search that you find using HT some say good things about them and other say bad.
-Consider the following.
-Type-S has 10.6:1 compression pistons.
-Different valves.
-And I believe some differences in the Intake Manifold.
-Keep in mind that the USDM Prelude and the Type-S Prelude aren't exactly the same.

I thought the Type S pistons were 11:1?
I thought the Type S pistons were 11:1?
The most common issue that I've seen reported w/ type s cams is wear on the valverain; the coomon "theory" is that the type s ramp rate is much greater than the v. the USDM base model or SH cam ramprate, and that this tends to scorch the valvetrain components on USDM heads even if type S valve springs are used (allegedly the USDM heads are "softer" than the JDM heads.) If you'd like to err of on the side of caution, get the type SH cams (if you've got a base model.) Otherwise, just leave it be. And yes, type S c/r is 11:1, has different valvesprings/retainers/ same dual runner manifold (Euro accord type R has single runner manifold), but that's about the it.

Yah, same engine, but different cams. The SH cams are a bit more aggressive (lift & duration) to compensate for the ATTS system.

heres a link to some who has type s cams that evaluated it, dyno is provided for the cams also, i have type s cams and they pull pretty decent for honda cams, and being that they are honda cams the idle is pretty good also

does anyone have any experiance with putting the SH cams into a base model? I hadn't heard about this until now...would the gains be worth doing or would some aftermarket cams be more worth the trouble of putting different cams in?

Dude get you INFO right..!!..
SH and BASE model cams are the SAME..
Do a cross referance on the part #'s before you write some false statement.
Now you got some poor guy buying SH cams for his BASE lude, thinking hes gonna gain some extra HP, and alls hes going to get is the same cams he started with..

I did just provide the base and SH cam specs the SH VTEC lobes are about .5mm larger, so you get more lift.

Just remembered the HP that, that guy is producing is what I'm producing with no S cams. Just an observation.

Ive heard of the type s cams scoring the lifters cuz of the stock LMA's.The type s cams are pretty agreesive and the stock lma's may not have enough room for the higher lifts.Ive heard of someone using teg type r lma's.

Maybe you should check the Helm manual specs for each cam before going off on someone.
