Im starting to get into in my car now. My future mods and maintenence suggest me using a torque wrench, I think its about time I purchase one. whats an ideal wrench to buy for a dc2 chassis? Im looking at a local ad for a snap on 120obo but no details any help would be greatly appreciated
I bought this one:

well i have a 3/8" drive cheapo craftsman one.. but i want to get a better one with a 1/2" drive so i can use it on my lugs and the larger bolts where i think its more important to keep proper torque specs...
oh yea.. and craftsman has a lifetime warranty on all handtools and i'm 99% sure that it includes torque wrenches.

whatever you get, make sure you have it calibrated on a regular basis, especially
if you are doing a lot of things where torque is important.

nope....Craftsman torque wrenches are the on;ly hand tool not given a lifetime warranty. Simply put because they need to be set back to "ZERO", whenever they are not in use(otherwise the spring weakens and it loses accuracy), and most people just leave it at 75 for lugs ALL the time, etc.
I use a 1/2 inch drive Craftsman 0-150 lbs because I get them for so cheap

I second the SK. Very high quality. I also picked up a general use 1/2 torque wrench from harbor freight for $10 to use only on my lugs. Cheapie but works well enough.
snap on has a life time warrantty and ussually you can get an account with them to pay weekly, but trust me once you get one it builds up to more then just what you thought you were going to purchase
i got a digital snap on wrench and i hate the damn thing, batteries keep going dead

I use a 3/8th drive craftsman one now. It's pretty crapy. I'm about to get the 1/2 drive long handle digital craftsman wrench or the one from snap-on.
Once you use digital, you'll never go back. It's too easy and if you're lazy like me they are dream come true.

The harbor freight model is made by pittsburg (sp?). The accuracy, bench tested my many a miata wrenchers, was pretty accurate. They go on sale from time to time. The full price is $19.99 so dont expect a quality piece. I hear they break very very often but the warranty makes it an ok buy.

I bought a torque wrench from Kragn for $45, but the dam **** broke in less then a month with just moderate use. It has a lifetime warranty but I lost the receipt
.
Next one I'm getting is a craftsman, don't trust other brands.

I have the craftsman, and I can tell you, don't get it. The warranty sucks (only 90 days) and once it goes out of calibration, sears charges you 60 dollars for the calibration, which is how much a new one costs!
At the very least, get the Husky one at Home Depot, they have lifetime warranties. Personally I'd get a used Snap On on Ebay, which Snap On will calibrate free for you for life.

I have two-both Snap-on.
A 3/8" drive wrench that goes from 5-75 ft/lbs. and a 1/2" wrench that goes from 25-150 ft/lbs. I may get a 3/8" drive wrench for doing smaller jobs, where torque is measured in inch-pounds.Snap-on is
for customer service and lifetime warranty.
