replace / resurface flywheel always when replacing clutch?
my throwout bearing is squealing intermittently so i think i'm going to have to replace my clutch sometime in the next 6 months or so. (unless you guys think otherwise)... I'm thinking of going with the exedy organic kit due to the good price. will i HAVE to get my flywheel resurfaced when replacing the clutch or not? I've never replaced a clutch while the engine was still in the car...so i'm still debating whether or not to do the work myself or pay the extra $350 to get it installed by a pro. what do you guys think? any recommendations?
u dont (have) to....but its recomended for peek life expectancy on a new clutch....if u dont resurface its possible that ur clutch will wear uneven....but its up to u...if u got the money definetley...but my freind replaced his clutch yesterday without resurfacing and it drove good still

or you could take it to a maching shop and pay $20 and it's the same thing i would think???

$20 is a bit cheap. Mine typically cost me around $60, but it's basically the same thing. If you don't have the time to resurface the FW, and it's not that bad to start, you can get away with the backyard mechanic special. Take some 220grit sandpaper, and scour the surface ofthe FW in a circular motion. At least this will remove the glazing that can cause problems in the future.
It really depends what kind of clutch you have in there already. The moron that put the last clutch in my car put an ACT unsprung 6 puck in there. It ripped my flywheel and pressure plate apart (like it is very abrasive and wore them out quickly). This is on a near stock motor that needs nothing of the sort. If you decide to keep your flywheel, do yourself a favor and have it resurfaced. If nothing else, it's all about the piece of mind. I put an ACT 12.5 lb. flywheel in and it's great. I got my clutch and flywheel from http://www.clutchcityonline.com for $590 shipped.

don't pay more than $150 for the installation of the entire clutch kit? that seems pretty low to me. have you found places that will do it that cheap?

I got my clutch installed and flywheel resurfaced for $200 from a friend. Most shops I asked wanted like $800. If I could do it all over again, I would have done the clutch myself. Its really no that hard. Especially with a friend helping.
