Default Prelude forum Guidelines for those who misunderstand what this place is all about...

Hello again.

I will be around, I will be watching. I WILL NOT LIVE on Honda-Tech. I will move/transfer/lock/delete anything that I feel necessary. Corey will do the same per his own judgments.

It is very important to understand this is not a democracy in here. Corey and I are the chiefs, you guys are the indians. Harsh reality, but for the most part, there isn't a vote here. We decide, and we don't have time to quibble with you.

#1. This is not a for sale forum. A select few items may be allowed to be posted here, under TWO CONDITIONS:
A. You are a consistant, upstanding, participating member of this forum
B. MOST IMPORTANTLY you gain permission PRIOR to your posting.
anything we feel doesn't belong here, then it doesn't belong here.

#2. And almost as important as #1., this is a TECH FORUM FOR PRELUDE'S. We are tech heads. You have problems, we have answers. You can't get an answer here, we can point you in the right direction.

#3. There is the GDD forum, appearance forum, best buys forum, kill stories etc etc etc. Look around and see what forum best suits your thread that you are about to post. If you do not, rest assured that Corey or I WILL find the best one.

#4. In here, there are several of us that are very close. We tend to make exceptions to the rules for those of us that are like family. Please don't complain and whine about this. OK? We're going to do it no matter what. This isn't a public office where we're voted in, this isn't a job place where favoratism can bring a lawsuit. It's a WEB FORUM. An ONLINE GATHERING OF PEOPLE who help eachother. We try to keep it as close to that as we can.

#5. Common sense people. If you'd rather go to clubSi, then by all means, we'll wave as you go. We love new members to come in, but watch for a bit. It's like going to a new school. You don't jump right into class screaming "look at me" and sit with the "popular kids" on the first day at lunch. We don't care about your setup, or your rims. We're not easily impressed because we've been doing Prelude's a loooooong time. I've got more H22A spare parts laying around right now that I won't need paperweights for years.

#6. What we say goes. I hate to sound rude, but we have to stick with our decisions. If we go soft, we'll get run over.

#7. Post what you know, not what your best friends buddies cousin told him to tell you. If you have an "idea" or a "suggestion" make it known as that. People on here tend to read too much into things and will take it as fact, when it may not be. We try to keep correct information floating around. That's what makes us different from the teg or civic forum.

These are just a few basic guidelines. It's important that if you feel that you've been "done wrong." Go about it in a manner that MAKES SENSE. Talk to the moderator that made the decision. Don't go over his head, don't cuss him out. This will only bring baaaaaaaad things.

Hey, most importantly of all... enjoy yourselves in here. We're the redheaded stepchildren of Honda. We need to stick together. So try not to get offended when Corey of I does something. OK?

You guys keep up the good tech advice....

-Todd

Default One point:

Per your comment:

>>#2. And almost as important as #1., this is a TECH FORUM FOR PRELUDE'S. We are tech heads. You have problems, we have answers. You can't get an answer here, we can point you in the right direction. <<

I agree, but would alos like to entertain the notion that since this is a "model" specific forum, if, say, I get a new set of coilovers, or seats, or some modification isn't it beneficial to the members to be made aware of this in their own setting, rather than having to sift through misc. forums to find information specific to the prelude? If that is, indeed, the case, then this forum may get a bit "too" narrow in scope; as "most" of the tech issues can be resolved via search, no?

Example: I "made" some seat mounts for my 5th gen that allow for a good 2 inches plus of added headroom when using an aftermarket seat. would posting details & picture be w/in the bounds of this forums scope?

Regards.

you read too deeply into things.

making seat mount with pictures that helps other luders is perfect. Yay, more power to you. I custom made mine, cut, welded and everything.

making your indiglo H on your front brighter so it's more bling bling than your neighbor is ghey and won't be accepted.

re-read it. Like I said, use common sense.

moderating takes a fine touch, a firm hand and not caring who likes you or not.

Leading isnt easy. So I've come back to lead this forum in the direction that it was created for.

And almost had my mod job? You never had anything.

actually, you were only one of 3 people being considered, don't think that you had the job in you pocket

i am glad that Todd came back to mod, i would much rather have him back than anyone new that would abuse their power and lock very informative threads just b/c it isn't their style

Actually, there were two people considered. He wasn't one of them.

But that is beside the issue.

We're a family here, lets try and keep our family together without the excess crap floating around.

Prelude's forever... even when I own my Vette.

Well...ok here it is. I like this Forum. In fact it is my favorite forum, very technical and informative. I've actually learn't most of what I know about my prelude here. This being said. I really can't portray how gay I think this post is... Everyone here knows these rules and newbies who post stupid **** usually get flamed pretty fast and leave. What is this post all about.? It's as if ur boasting about the fact that ur the almighty moderator of this board... Honestly if this post gets me kicked off then so be it. But this is totally retarded. I really don't mean to insult u but common man, gimme a break.

Chief and Indians? lol

Two things:
#1. You're lucky I'm not the old me. Otherwise you wouldn't be here. But I'm nice enough now to let you're horrible attitude towards a guy (me) that will probably end up answering many of your questions down the road, slide.

#2. You probably can't see them now (maybe because I moved or locked them??), but there were at least 15-20 threads breaking these "simplistic" rules that you seem so greatly to have inherently imbedded in your brain.

This thread was necessary to eliminate griping and moaning... not create it. This is a rule that I've broken more than my fair share, but for the most part, we don't "flame" here. Tech forums are for tech. Kill forum is for flaming. Don't believe me? Go in there and post something anti domestic.

If you have any further complaints, feel free to IM me, and I'll handle your concerns in a timely manner.

if you can't deal with the new rules, go to the EG forum, Tom doesn't tolerate anything, he deleted one of my threads once, he had a good reason for it, he told me why he couldn't let it stay, but the Prelude forum is already more open about pretty much anything, i'd say if you have a problem with the rules in here, you don't even belong on HT period

That makes sense plus I'd probably turn out to moderate like RJ. in the road/auto forum. Ya'll visited that forum lately.

I wanted to be a mod...

but no one takes me seriously... (one of the reasons I am leaving HT for a while)

EDIT: and unfortunately this thread is well needed... considering about every 6 months we are over run with "check out my ride" threads.
I think Todd posted this as a reminder to the veterans and a wake up call to the noobs.

I remember the last time you made a "forum guidelines thread". I find this one to be much more informative and professional than the last. I appreciate the new and improved attitude.
