Default H22 guys... what ECU you running other than P13?

I was at the track the other day and I saw a 5th gen Accord running 14.6 with an H22 and all he had was I/E and running a GSR ecu. Any body else run anything other than a P13 and have had good results?

The guy told me that he shifts at 8k rpms so that he's in the torque range in the next gear, so now I think I wanna try that myself. Wadda you think?

I'm running a chipped P28. Runs killer and don't have to deal with that EGR crap. But I don't know about 8,000. Thats pretty high. Mine stops making power after 7600.

Unfortunatly, I don't know what program it is. A buddy of mine did it a while back and we are trying to duplicate it now for a friend of mine's shop. The ecu is great, but I don't have a redline, hence what horribly happened to my motor in recent events. But I shift around 7500-7600. I have the first stage of my shift light come on at 7300 and the second part come on at 7600. On the dyno I didn't make any more power past 7600.

All of the P28 programs for the H22, that I've personally seen in action, were not as good in performance as a Spoon P13 setup (mostly with the mid-range torque), but they all pull about the same in VTEC. If someone has a P28 program with the Type S settings in it (with +3-5% fuel from 5500+) then that would be an ideal setup to use.... otherwise, the only way that I know of to obtain that sort of setup would be from a Hondata setup. With that setup on my car, it ran/idled much smoother than the P13 (and Spoon P13), pulled quicker and smoother, and felt good overall.

BTW, a friend of mine dynoed his H22 Civic with a stock P13 (I/H/E) and a Spoon P13 on his JDM H22..... no more power after 7200 with the stock P13, no more power after 7400 with the Spoon P13 (I'll get him to post up the dyno sheets). From that data, and my own impressions on how the car felt/pulled when I drove it, I'd shift at 7500 at the track when racing, but sometimes take it up to 8000 on the road course when I didn't want to shift into 4th gear.

I have the spoon p13 and loving it, with the exception of the egr code. argh.

the ONLY time the stupid thing comes on is when i go up a slight hill. crazy stuff. i just reset the code though and she goes away while i'm driving.

I was looking into the P28, but I was going for Honda S200 and tune that to see how it goes. Or just get a regular chip for the P28 and get me the VAFC and go that route up until I get me some ITB's

If its an ODB I ECU then no new harness is required..

Like Jason said. But it depends on what OBD your car is. If you have an obd2 car you need an obd1 jumper harness, unless your car is already obd1

I am running a GSR (p72) on my obd1 h22a1. I have a fully n/a built motor, racing I shift around 8000-8100 rpms. I like the ecu, but w/ my euroR intake manifold, i will most likey switch to an Erick's Racing all-motor ecu

I'm using a p30 w hondata s200 (pretty much a p28). The swap isn't done yet, so unfortunatly I have no idea how it's going to run. I have a Euro R h22, but the closest base map that Payn Tech. had was a type-s h22 w/secondary butterflies locked open. Hopefully that'll run ok till I get it dyno tuned. Anybody out there using the Euro R intake mani? How does the ecu treat the single runners?

2point6 has the euro R manifold. I'm not sure how it's running on his car though.

I finally saw the Skunk2 H22 intake manifold. That thing is beefy!

How is your car running without a chip. Is it laggy at all? Damn I might just throw this p28 in for kicks till i can get it chipped.

I plan to do the same, I also want to see the Skunk2 IM.

I eventually want to use a Hondata. Would a VAFC be needed with a Hondata?

The only picture I saw of it was actually in the most Recent Super Street (lol). They have their skunk2 ad and one of 'em has a section saying :

"New! H22A Skunk2 intake manifold" and Coming soon with a picture of 'em. I'll take a picture of the page when I get home if you guys don't have it

and from the looks of the picture doesnt' look like it has the EGR crap on the I/M as well.

I talked to the guys at a local shop here and skunk2 told them that the h22 manifold release has been pushed back to at least August. They are having clearance problems with it. I guess it hits the firewall in h22 civics.

I've been waiting for this manifold for forever. O well. I might just take out my butterfly plates.

I saw the pictures of the manifold too in import tuner. The thing does look BEEFY.

Just out of curiosity, how do you find out the rev limiter of your engine? Mine is a 98 JDM h22. Im afraid to just rev my engine until the fuel cuts off. Is that bad to do? Should I just step on the gas and let it rev until it cuts off? I really want to know though since I run nitrous and dont want to hit that limiter. Thanks
