Durable open-ended lug nuts?
Hi, I am looking for a set of openeded lug nuts, but no luck with the ¡§Daiyama¡¨ you guys have mentioned awhile back. (inlinefour.com sold out until June?!)
Any recommendation on any other brand I should look into? Any one has experience with Skunk2? Any good deal with Buddy Club??
TIA,
Carson

My Spoon lug nuts have preformed quite well (~2 years).
I have run a tap thru them 'once' to clear out the mung and have not noticed any thread damage.

TV is on... sound is coming thru the stereo (loud)... Bush Lite is in hand...blue nuts are on the computer screen... all is well.

I got a set of anodized forged aluminum lugnuts from my sponsor, Auto Innovations. Call Steve up & ask him how much they retail for. Or, you can email him @ steve@autoinnovations.com.

My Skunk2 lug nuts have worked well. They're showing a little wear, but considering how often I take the wheels off, or retorque them, it's to be expected. I definitely like the longer style with the round end though. It makes putting them on much easier - that alone makes them worth the high price to me.

Jeff, have you had to run a tap through yours?
I put new Skunk studs and nuts on my car, and they were very tight, almost felt like we were cross theading them, but we were not, they did not instill much confidence.
Let me know, maybe all we need to do is clean them out a little.

I don't know if there are better reasons for getting opened but for me, I think it's would be much easier to un-screw them by hands.
I know they allow for extended studs, but not sure the benefit of that though.

Edit: I can't spel

Well if its a race/track car the lugs ought to get cleaned off quite frequently. I usually clean (brake cleaner) and re-apply antiseize every other track weekend.
Never broken a lug stud.

Most people use opened lug nuts on extended studs, they don't bottom out on the stud, and to view the depth of stud incursion.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=441547 Is "forged aluminum" durable? I have plans to order a set of these soon for my soon to be track wheels (CP-035s).

Not pretty, but effective...and you don't feel like crying if you tear one up or lose it in the pits.

Sure. Enough to share. And the box costs around $60.00, including shipping. Skunk 2 forged = $5.00...a piece!!

Held my wheels on through a season of ECHC. These things are steel, and not especially pretty, but they do the job.

My friend uses the Skunk2 studs with his Skunk2 Lug nuts and has to run a die on the studs everytime he swaps them out.
I'm using ARP studs with Skunk2 lug nuts and they fit perfectly.

With all these expensive lug nuts you guys use... I have .79 cent open end lug nuts from autozone for a year now with not one problem, never backed off and never had any problems with thread or anything, and they only cost .79 each!
Why bother with 5.00 nuts, it just make me think the one who use them are nuts

They are much easier to thread on when you have aftermarket wheels and a lug seat that is recessed in the wheel....
