Weld Draglites, two thumbs up!
I just got my new Weld Draglites (13x8, 5" backspace) and 22x8x13 M&H slicks (which I got from Exospeed.com) mounted. Although they need a 1/8" wheel spacer to keep it from rubbing the front of the caliper, they fit PERFECT on my 99 Civic Si using stock calipers/rotors. None the less, they look very cool on the car and even mounted they are only 18lbs per corner!

Naw, i'm only passing the traps at 8000rpm in 4th, i've got another 900rpm to go. 4th takes me to about 125mph on 205x50 15" street tires so these should be good until I start trapping in the 115 range and hitting the rev limiter at the end of the track. Also, I had problems launching on 22's last year but they resurfaced the entire track and these are also wider than the others which will also help. As long as I moderate my throttle on launches, 2nd seems to hook pretty decent as long as I dont power shift. Because i'm making all the torque up top, unless it starts spinning right after I shift, it pretty much stays hooked which is nice. I've also made a number of simulations in software that I have using actual car data (horsepower & torque, weight, gearing, tire size, shift points, ect) it shows that I would in fact hurt my times to use a 24" slick with my setup right now. But down the road when its smoking 2nd gear to redline and having trouble hooking up in 3rd, then i'll jump up the tires to a 24 or 25"

LOL Mabee so, but seeing how little room their is to spare between the suspension and tire I dunno if a 9" wide tire would fit unless it didnt bulge out any more than the 8" wide tires do. Either way, these are a lot wider than the 22's I ran last year for one day.
Jeff, i'm not sure how wide those were, but they did tuck under the car unlike these which stick out at least two inches. Those were mounted on Dave's 15" Mugen wheels. I can tell these are even lighter still than the smaller slicks I used last year for the one race. Either way, its gotta hook halfway decent since the track was also resurfaced this year. (Since that was causing lots of wheel hop off the line thanks to the lovely dips and bumps in the staging area.)

how much did you pay and where did you get them at if you don't mind me asking
also are you using longer wheels studs or different lug nuts
thanks marc

Bout time.
I can't wait to see you cut some 1.7's - 1.8's
12.2 - 12.4, watch.

The wheels come with special inserts for the studs that allows for use of factory style lugs and they have more than enough length to the studs that these should work fine. I may buy some light weight open ended lugs for use when racing but the ones on the car now work fine. I should consider higher strength studs but i'll worry about that later.
Edit: Oops, forgot to reply to Ryan...
Yea, I dont doubt it will cut my 60' times down dramaticly. My best time on the slicks I borrowed last September was a 1.89 and I pulled a couple more 1.9's and 2.0's which sucks bad for slicks. In fact, my fastest three runs had 1.891, 1.906 and 2.091 60' times. Drop that to the 1.7-1.8 range and it will drop times by at least a couple tenths. (becides the fact the car is faster and lighter this year anyhow)

Well, i havent raced it in 7 months because the track was closed for the winter and although it opened a couple weeks ago, I was in the middle of my "spring rebuild" and I didnt have any reason to spend $20 to make passes on all season street tires.
My best time last year was on borrowed slicks that I had only several runs on to get the hang of, but I pulled a 12.8 @ 110 with no coolant in the system. (dont ask, stupidity at fault) I made a few other 12.9's and a friend took it down the strip to a 13.0 due to massive wheel spin in 1st. (he met the rev limiter a few times)
With that said, i've gained over 20 horsepower (closer to 30) and a good bit of torque as well, plus the car is about 40-50lbs lighter and the track was resurfaced this spring for the first time in 30 years. (Seriously, the track was bumpier and wavier than a public street at some points!) With all the changes and the improved traction of these slicks I anticipate around 12.4-12.5's after some practice launching on these slicks with the stickier track surface.

Heh thats cool... Yea Weld have been around for a LOOONG time for domestic rides and they've made a few import race wheels before but nothing "affordable" AND light weight. These are both affordable and very light weight, plus they look nice to boot. (Now if i could only afford the matching 15x4's with some M&H skinnies for the rear!)
Weld has a huge facility not far from here, i've never been there but its no more than 30 mins from where I live. Now if I could only find a way to get a job there.
