So we left in a small caravan from BeaveRun headed for Florida. My car ran absolutely wonderful at the track, rollin' novices like whoa!
After 4 hours of driving, the R began to hesitant quite violently, missing pretty bad. It would cause a slight whiplash and the motor would spit and spatter, but eventually settle out. 40 miles north of Charlotte, NC, after 8 hours of driving, the car died. I pulled over to the side of the road with Boo439, Hooch, ILUVTEC, ITRCHRIS, & 01-1004R. The R started, but moved about 50 yards before stalling again. Jack from P1 Auto was about 30 minutes - 1 hour behind out (drives too slow)
so I gave him a call and he stated to tow it to his shop. After getting the run around from several tow truck companies, I towed the piece of crap to P1 Auto in South Carolina. It was only $160.00 to tow it 50 or so miles. Other companies quoted me like 400.00
The tow truck guy was pretty cool and was sporting a hella mullet
Stated he had just finished towing a Cadillac on 20s with bullet holes in the doors and blood in the seats. Just what I need. Said a guy he works worth towed a Bentley out of a church parking lot just a few days earlier and also stated he has towed his far share of Beamers, Mercedes, Porshes, but never a ferrari or lambargini. Anyway, we tow the **** R to Jack's place and by this time it's about 2 am. Jack called me and said, "I'll be there between 7:30 and 9:00 in the morning to look at your car." I take a power nap in the R and at 7:30 on the dot, Jack shows up with Breakfast Jacks from Jack in the box and gets to work. He checks this and that and narrows it down to an electrical problem. Plenty of fuel in getting to the car, but there's no spark. We brainstorm a bit and decide the coils in the distributor cap are bad and need to be replaced. Not only does this crazy man bring me breakfast, but he takes my *** to the local dealership to pick up both coils for the distributor cap. He knew the guys behind the counter, so we saved a little money there
We get back to P1Auto, Jack swaps the coils for the distributor and says "have a safe trip home. Call me if you need me to pick you up anywhere or if you have problems." I left P1 Auto at 10 a.m. and rolled up to my pad at 5:30ish.
Mega Thanks to Jack and P1 Automotive for 1) letting me crash there and 2) fixing my crap R, bringing me breakfast, towing my *** around to buy car parts, etc...
Asspenny - Craig - For loaning me 10 bucks to tip the tow truck guy..

Sorry to hear about the mechanical break down on the way back Marc
On a brighter note i got message on the cell from ITRChris with something to the effect that you and him want to hit up Dr. Chin's events since you are hooked on road racing now
PS- i got your message right before you left town but it was too late to stop by

Good to hear it ended well.
Question: Did your tach start flucating? bouncing around and dropping low and stuff? Car dying when it hit/stayed at 0 and stuff? If so I know your pain, I drove mine half they way back to Chicago keeping it running with that happening, Ignition coil is on order from autozone, hope its the right part
PS: I'm still trouble shooting, I made it home by nailing the throttle when the tach would flip out. Did we head in the right direction? Ignition coil? Its a 1999 JDM b18c R obdII into obdI hatch/harness btw. So any extra info would rock.

I have had the igniter go out on my car, I guess we are talking about the same thing? Car would buck a lot, then just stalled, started up and ran then stalled, and wouldn't run again..
Anyways, guess we shouldn't have ran the bitch so hard this weekend, great Job by the way at the track!
Practice that Hell-Toe downshift

Weird you said 40 miles north of Charlotte...my brother called me and said that he saw 3 R's, 2 PY, 1 CW, and a red hatch I think on the way back from the expo. He said he noticed some Florida plates, this was about 30 miles N. of Charlotte in Statesville somewhere around 12 Sunday night. He was in a silver S2000, any of you all?

I was driving the silver S2000. I passed you all about 30 miles north of Charlotte. I tried to get everyone to follow me off the exit but no one stopped, 2 of the R's blew their horn as I exited. You must have broken down right after I got off the interstate......that sucks.
I got home to raleigh at about 3:45. I could barely see i was so tired. Sorry about the mishap marc....atleast yack didnt throw up in it.....
