ABS elimination?
How difficult is it to elimintate the abs stuff? im trying to lighten up my car, and i see this has to be at least 60lb pump there, and its gtg. i dont wanna replace all the lines with new ones, is there a way i could just lose that damn pump?
FYI- the ABS whole including the pump, wires, abs sensors, relays, brain, etc... total weights in at 22.5lbs according to HONDA.
The pump and bracket itself is 5lbs. The lines, wheel sensors, brain, and wires is 15lbs and the fluid is 2.5lbs total. I have pictures to show the weight of the pump that I took from a salvage yard. Oh yeah the cost of the Honda replacement parts to change it to non-abs is around $200-250. The lines itself are $75 each. Oh yeah you also have to drop the gas tank and the cross-member to get access to remove and install the rear brake lines.

Personally, I resist the removal of ITR ABS.
For such a cheap car, the ABS is really quite good, and approximates threshold braking in most circumstances.
Most ABS systems can't make that claim, and IMHO you'd be eliminating one of the most valuable and best developed systems on the car.</TD></TR></TABLE>
George saw my car first hand heading straight for a guard rail/fence at Expo on Sunday. I
you ABS.

You need a total of 4 brake lines, Integra RS prop valve and a JDM ITR MC/BB or an Integra RS 15/16" (same).
I already did this on my 1995 and the total time to remove the system was under 3hours.

Would you mind too awfully if I ask a really dumb question about all this?
What exactly are you doing w/the car that weight becomes such an overriding influence?
What makes weight so important that you would remove one of the best ABS systems ever put in a cheap car, for such a small difference in weight?
Honda Challenge drivers who are driving cars other than an ITR are always very jealous of how good the ITR ABS system is.
I don't mean to flame or anything...I just want to make sure you've really thought this through.
Sorry.

I haven't and will never take mine out, saved my *** a few time to warrant the extra weight.

what he said.. no desire to pull it from most people round here.. i had my car totally apart and left mine in on purpose..
apparently most people in here know jack about 95 GSR abs systems and their quality(or lack their of), so not many answers coming.. maybe try this in the regular Integra forum?

I was waiting for Migs to chime in. He has probably the easiest and cost effective way for removal.
I ditched mine in my 94 GSR. Cost only about $30. Hit me up on IM if you want more info. The ITR guys typically like thier ABS for road racing and they have a much better and lighter ABS module than the old GSR's. I drag race and don't care for the Anti Bitch System.
