syncro's are a brass and or bronze alloy and they are soft. it isnt just honda's. every manufacturer has these problems. have any friends with mustangs or older camaro's? ask them about borg and warner's T5.

They don't sell a tranny much better then mine! (LSD and a short final drive) Why is it going to happen again if I fix it? Why would I buy a new tranny for $1000 if it could happen to that one!
This is such Bull S***! I wish crap like this would not happen!

How Much Is It To Fix?
It depends on how much you can do yourself..Normally one replaces both the syncro and the gear..Here the hardware costs arounbd 300$ ,but the difficult part is to put it in..And assemble the tranny properly..
My local Honda shop told me it'll take 1.5 day to disassemble and reassemble and repair my tranny..And I also have a defective 3rd gear..
But I have to wait a bit 'cause I'm too low on $$ at the moment + a friend of mine going to help me fix it or else I'll never be able to afford it ...Syncros

trans's arent that intimidating. a helms will help. it is a big take apart then install in reverse order. 3rd always goes first because, think about. what gear do you miss the most? second. if it doesnt go in it cant grind. 3rd always goes in because you are pushing it with all your might. thats why.
i got the same problem...about 1 year ago my 5th gear grinded...no problem took it to the dealer got it fixed...now 5th is grinding again at low rpms and 2-4 are grinding at 6k shifts or higher

so if u replace synchros and the gear, lets say how long do u have until it wears out again normal driving with bein a lil hard on it every now and then, like when u replace it im guessing it wont be as good as new.....or close for that matter since people say it always starts grinding again
I have had the same problem in my del sol and in my hatch the third goes out then second! dam I hate that is there any after market parts that are stronger then the factory?

it most likely starts grinding again cause people beat on it even harder after its fixed.. people are like 'ooo, my tranny is like new now, i can beat on it harder than evar!!!'
im sure if you changed your driving habits after you realized you fucked your transmission, then i'd last long

i just talked a friend of mine about this who is certified in manuel transmissions, he says not pressing all the way down on the clutch will for the synchros to work harder and shortining there life span, as i usually tap the clutch when i shift, he also says a clutch that does not work properly, im guessing slipping can also cuase the synchros to work harder....any truth to this?
dam you guys have problems with 3rd? I've always had the problem with 2nd going bad. the mechanic I talked to told me it's going to cost me roughly $1000 to rebuild it or just buy another tranny for $600 installation included from him so I just got another tranny and save the hassle and money. just my .02
