Default H&R Sport + Koni yellow = 3" drop?!?!?!

Well I found a bone stock GS-R in my town that looks just like mine used to look, so I parked next to it and compared fender gap. I measured from the center of the wheel to the top edge of the fender arch. So I measure the stock car and it's around 14.5" in back. I measure mine in back and it's 11.5"?!?! How is this possible?? I have H&R Sport springs (1.5" drop in back) plus the Koni perch is on the lowest position, which is 15mm below the stock position (another 5/8" or so). So I should have right around a 2" drop in back, but it's more like 3"! Take a look:

Then I measured in front, and on the stock car it was around 14" and on my car it was around 11.5-11.75". My front Koni perches on the top slot, yet I still have a 2.25-2.5" drop in front???? Jeez these springs are supposed to only lower 1.8" in front!

I like the way my car looks and all (could maybe be a tad higher in back, which I will do when I get Ground Controls) but jeez, it's like I have a race spring drop, but the springs are the softer Sport spring rate. This is why I want to switch to GC's.

Yeah damn thats some serious dropage! Do you have any trouble with your bumpstops? I have GC's and when I was as low as you are I was always kissing my bumpstops to my Konis on every other bump.

It looks like you got lower profile tires than the other guy. That contributes too.

Your car looks great. Unless you have a problem with the ride quality you dont have anything to complain about.

tire size does not affect the measurement when you measure from wheel center to fender edge. I have 205/50-15 and the other car appeared to have 195/55 in back and 205/55 in front, although I didn't look to be sure but like I said, it doesn't matter.

I did not cut my bumpstops because H&R said not to, but I'm thinking I might get a better ride if I trim them some. The car can get pretty unsettled over larger bumps and dips.

When you hit the bumpstops, is it easy to tell? Is it very harsh? I think my Pro-Kit and Koni Yellows put me pretty low in the back at least, and very soft progressive springs that the Pro-Kit is... I'd think I'd be hitting the bumpstops but I don't think I am.

To tell the truth I don't know what hitting the bumpstops feels like because no one has ever been in the car to tell me when or if it happens. I think it might hit sometimes, though.

Cool pics. You'll know when you hit the bump stops because the suspension "Stops". Think of it almost like you bottomed out the chassis on something, because it feels very similar.

Do you have something weighing down the back? Almost looks like your rear is lower than the front ( I have HR sports and my rear is at least 3/4" higher than the front)

When I first installed my springs w/ the Koni perches at stock height all around, the rear was higher than the front. That's why I moved the rear perches down to the bottom. I measured all 4 corners of my car from the ground to the fender edge w/ the car on level ground, and all 4 corners are within 1/8" of each other, so no problems there. The only thing in the back of my car is the spare and my sub+amp+box which is only about 28 lbs.

H&R quoted the drop as a lot less than they actually are, or they've sagged.

I'm not taking off the rear ones, it looks better with them on.

I love the ES100's, they have been very good in the wet so far.

I do like the way the car looks, but I don't like the fact that it's dropped this low with a spring rate of only 276 lb/in, or whatever the H&R Sport rates are. I plan to dial in about the same drop when I get GC's, but the springs will be 350lb/in in front and 400 lb/in in back.

The race springs are 350 lbs front and 400 lbs rear,I think that 350 lbs might not be enough for the front. My race springs are too soft in the front. And there starting too sagg like an old ladies **** and the front bounces and is too soft even with konis set to full firm.My guess would be 450 in the front 450 r.I think integra's are nose heavy.

IMO, it sounds like your shocks might be going/gone. Integra's are nose heavy, that is why everyone runs higher rates in the back.

I just replaced them less then 2 weeks ago,1st I had tokico blues then they blew and switched out just the konis in the front, although it made a huge difference its still a little to bouncy, and not stiff enough.Maybe its just these **** springs I'm begining to think.

Eibach ERS springs don't sag, just ask Tom in the EG forum, he swears by them, as do many other people around here. Even if they do start to sag, I can just crank the coilovers up slightly. 450lb/in I think is pushing the limits of what OTS Konis can handle. I don't want to go to high, which would require custom valving, so that's why I'm going to go with 350F/400R.

What are your alignment specs (toe, camber, etc.)?

I'm running zero toe in front and I think 0.12 total in back (whatever the factory spec is, that's what my car is set to). Thrust angle is exactly zero. -2.3 deg. camber both sides in front, -1.9/-2.1 L/R in back.

My previous tires were put on right after I bought the car. After 15K miles, I installed my new suspension stuff, the springs and shocks, and then got it aligned. After that I got another 25K miles out of the tires before the inside edges started to wear smooth. However by that time, the tires were worn down all the way across and needed to be replaced anyway.

That's why I say camber kits are overrated unless you really need to dial in a specific setting. It's all about the alignment and toe settings.
