woo hoo~ i put on my greddy EVO
NOTE: mods.. please don't lock or delete... i'm posting tips for people who plan in the future to do exhaust install. Thanks
Just wanted to share my install experience with everyone.... i know alot of people have a hard time with the cat bolts n sometimes even after hours of cursing people end up takin their cars to midas to get the exhuast replaced... well integobsession and i installed the evo(purchased from sbitr1044) on my car in bout 1.5 hours and most of the time was spend tryin to get my low *** car high enough to work under.
Things i have grown appreciation for:
- PB blaster and lots of it.(Letting the bolts soak in it the night before u do the exhuast helps)
- Having a buddy to join you in ur cursing as u squirm underneathe the car.
- 1/2" drive ratchet & sockets (Seriously allows u to apply more pressure)
I soaked the bolts in pb blaster the night before as i said, and then some more right before i werked on the car. And with the use of the 1/2" ratchet & socket i didnt even need a breaker bar for the bottom two cat bolts... only for hte top one... and that was a cinch too.
b2finity's suggestions to me - start with the cat bolts/nuts... if u can't get those... then at least u still havent wasted ur time taken off the easier axle back portion bolts.
Do the bottom to cat bolts... then un hang the bpipe to get to the top cat bolts/nuts.
wd-40 is less irritating to your skin so u can use that on the rubber hangers to help u get them off.
Final note: I was expected to have a REALLY REALLY bad time with teh cat bolts seeing as how my car is a 94 and nobody has ever touched those bolts till today. And i think anticipating a hard time motivated me to prepare myself with those extra things like the pb blaster and the breaker bar. Keep those things handy in case ur install is a pita. Otherwise maybe it'll be a cinch like it was for me. Peace.
Oh yea.. and i'm happy with the tone n improvement made by my exhaust.. my pos stock 94 exhaust was pretty much dead.

Nice write-up for the newbies to exhuast install. When I installed my dunk on my last car it was kinda a pain. We didn't soak the bolts the day before so they were a little tight. Me and my dad yanked on the ratchet w/ breaker bar and that just broke them. Those bolts are fawkin tight. Otherwise the install should be a breeze. Don't let those bolts give you reason to pay to get the install done. It really isn't hard. And, you'll feel more attached to your car afterwards...

If you rev it up and then come off the throttle completely, do you hear a buzzing sound outside the car (or with the windows down) as the revs drop?

yea, any exhaust will do that as the RPMs drop. just sounds like buzzing/droning with canisters. my N1 does it too. as long as it's not like a coffee can with bees in it or farty then it doesn't bother me.

I love mine, but for some reason it's gone through 2 resonators this is the second one...I can hear it getting all shot up in there....gonna be rattling like a mother in a month or so...great exhaust tho, awsome sound and the loud when you want it to be I fully understand!
