Default suspension question.

I have always heard that Tokico Hp's are bouncy, is this bonciness (word?) caused by them being used with springs that have to high of a ratio, or because they can't handle the lower springs? I'm a broke 18 years old that lives in Canada (3 aftermarket parts strikes against me right there) so I can't afford any more than the blues. If the problems with them are caused by the spring rate than I was thinking of trying the Tanabe 210NF's because there only about 10% stiffer than stock, would these give me a good ride? Thanks for the help.

Save up some money and go with the Tokico Illumina's. I have them paired with some neuspeed sports and the ride is absolutely great.

unfortunitly since I live in Canada and make 10,000 a year Canadian it's not really an option. The lowest I've seen Illumina's for Canadian is $680 a set and with it being the slow season at my work I won't be making more than $250- $300 every two weeks until school's over. +I have to save for university and the GF is a money leech + I just dropped $600 on an RS*R exhaust so $200 US for the blues was looking pretty good. it would end up being around $600 Canadian for blues and Tanabe springs which is closer to my range.

people think that the shock is bouncy or the springs are to high of a rating but ...More often than not the people that say the ride is too bouncy have used the adjustible coilover for the purpose of Slamming their car ... That Is the First mistake! Coil overs are meant to tune and distribute weight to balance the car at each corner.. If you jack up your car and the spring falls into the collet and is lose your spring is too short and the car 's weight becomes unsprung and "bouncy".
The spring should always have tension "load" even when the car is in the air. Or you are going to be riding on the Shocks bump-stops and bounciness occurs. Buy a longer spring with a coil over Eibach lets you order custom or different size springs if requested. Or buy a shorter shock.. We almost always modified the Tokico shock "blue" or "Illumina" to give us more travel. Hope this helps. Good luck. This reply was just meant to help.

For the front Shocks we remove the top spring pirch, hammer out the studs, cut the bushing mount at the bottom, then weld one inch of 0.095 thick tubing to the pirch and then weld the cut portion back. next hammer the studs back in. You now have one more inch of travel and have reduced the spring to pirch gap by the same..!
For the rear you can do the same or even add two inches of tube since there are no cleance problem back there. The rear shock spring pirch can alsobe cut off and a coilover will still stay in place allowing you to lower the spring collet another inch or so. No more bumpstop ride.. more shock travel ... and a spring that is actually holding the weight of your car!
