A/F guage in dimmer knob hole?
Is it easy to do this? I just got a guage cheap and I want to mount it where the guage cluster dimmer **** is. Its an Autometer 2" guage. Do I need to enlarge anything? Are there any write ups on doing this online? Thanks.

I have an oil pressure gauge and my a/f in place of the dimmer and cruise control ****. Just use a dremel and enlarge the holes to make a tight fit for the gauges. I think this is probably the cleanest looking spot to put gauges. Once you make the new holes though, the dimmer **** won't fit there anymore if you decide to put your car back to stock.
Take the two screws out of the stock gauge bezel. Then pull the gauge bezel out and you will have access to the back part of the dimmer ****. Just pop out the clips and the **** comes right out.
why not just buy a guage pod bessel?
BTW, thanks for the info.
Cool, I'll look into borrowing a dremel. Is it hard to take out the dimmer ****?
The dimmer and cruise ***** just come out with some delicate prying with a small flat tip screwdriver at the top/bottom of the ****, under it's lip... it should be easy.
Once the dimmer is out..., simply disconnect the molex plug and put the dimmer aside.
The gauge area of the dash is made of a high impact white plastic and will shave easily...just use a grinding/sanding dremel bit.
* Use the back of the A/F gauge as a general template and start 'shaving' out the circle to fit the gauge (You MUST leave the circle a wee bit smaller than the gauge, so you can just press the gauge in and have the dash hold it.)
* As you dremel out the circle, periodically put the back of the gauge to the hole to make sure you aren't going too far.
* Once the hole is just big enuff for the gauge to be wedged in, reconnect the dimmer gauge (Don't forget to set it to the desired brightness) and tape it so it doesn't change intensity.
* Slip the dimmer thru the hole (it will fit now) and rest it in the back of the dash
* Run your A/F wires and connect your gauge
* Once hooked up, test the gauge and then wedge it into your 'NEW' gauge pod
BTW, you can tap into the dimmer wires to control gauge light brightness with your cluster.
I did this with the boost gauge on my old integra.... it looks VERY trick and VERY tight...

How easy is it to read the gauges though? I guess with the dancing-light A/F gauge it would be good, but I don't know if I would want my EGT or Boost gauge in that location. Somebody let me know if theres any trouble seeing it. (I haven't driven my teg in months so I don't remember how hard it is to see the cruise control or dimmer switch locations).
The dimmer location does not have the best view... it is not always in view depending on where you level your steering wheel or your driving position.
When I had the boost gauge there...it was sleeper and I loved it. At my vantage point, I could see it just fine but if you move your position some...it will go out of view.
