I was hanging out with my cousins at bmw meet, and my cousins brother in law brought his s2000. Anyways, one of the bmw owners brother, has an s2000 too.
He said, that he launches the car at 7000+rpm. He says anything lower doesnt have enough power. Now that seem high to me, and damaging. wouldn't it just peel out?
Whats the optimum launch rpm?

uh... Im no s2000 specialist....but 7k launches should smoke his tires until he shifts to 2nd. I would think a 4-5k launch would be more appropriate depending on traction and other factors

i launch ~7000rpm when i drag race, i pull 2.1 60fts
the s2k isnt a drag car doesnt have torque down low, so you really have to launch high.

depends on what kind of tires you're using... Potenza 02's, you should launch at 7K... anything less sticky, just launch at a lower RPM to prevent burn outs...
