Default UberChip Review and Track Tested!

Well I received the UberTeg chips sometime ago. I was eager to get it cause I was really tired of the bucking and near stalling the hack was doing. So with a little deal UberTeg and I struck, he chiped my ECU with the chip. I knew about the chip before Uber went public with so I was pretty excited to test his chip.

So got the ecu and plug it in with his base settings. The car originally ran RICH *** F*CK! My whole back bumper was black, and this being accented since my car is yellow. The actually function of the chip was awesome, felt like a stock boosted car, but performance wise it was running like *** cause it was so rich. The air/fuel gauge, as shitty as it is, never moved from the green!

So I worked closes with Uber to figure out what to do in the mean time before we could get new settings in. I was using Filetofits circuit (badass) before the chip. I used the circuit to "semi-tune" the chip using my butt dyno. Since the circuit adjust fuel according to map voltage, unlike the AFC, it was better suited to do adjustments.

Being that I have no wideband, no EGT and only a Autometer Air/Fuel and my butt dyno, this was going to be a interesting task. I tried -15%, -17%, -20% on the circuit and I found that -20% was working best. My fuel gauge actually wasnt going down anymore when I was in boost! But something weird happens after -20% with the circuit in place. The car does not run right, I assume at this point the circuit and the chip conflict with each other. In any case atleast the air/fuel gauge was moving again.

Last night I went to the track to test out ghetto tuned chip. Uber had sent me another chip with better settings but I didnt have time to plug that bitch in, so i ran with my -20% trim with the circuit and the previous chip. I didnt have much time to do anything to the car cause I wanted to get as many runs in as possible. I ran the car three times with these results:

I ran full interior, with my craftsman tool box in the car cause no one wanted to bring there damn tools. Also ran on 17's with my ghetto *** Sumitomo HTR tires and my big *** body kit which I love Anyways here are the specs of the runs:

<U>Run 1</U> :
R/T .455
60' 2.601
330 6.253
1/8 9.498
MPH 76.30
1000 13.486
1/4 15.728
MPH 101.15

Okay so that was a **** *** run. I tried to use the full throttle launch capabilities of Ubers chip and even though I feathered it i just sat there and spun first, second, and most of the third, plus i shifted out of 3rd to early

<U>Run 2</U>
R/T .641
60' 2.980
330 6.961
1/8 10.038
MPH 82.12
1000 12.610
1/4 14.768
MPH 104.49

Again had problems with this run. I was going to launch with the full throttle launch instead just hold it at 2800rpms. I launch and it pops on of first gear. I throw it back in first, and floor it and once again just spin the **** out of first and second. So I was pissed.

<U>Run 3</U>

R/T .503
60' 2.157
330 5.903
1/8 8.830
MPH 84.96
1000 11.348
1/4 13.478
MPH 106.57

Obviously this was the best run of the night. Knowing that I basicaly had no traction off the line, I didnt drop the clutch in first this time. Instead I held it steady at about 2500rpms and rode the **** out of the clutch in first. I couldnt get any more runs in after this cause they told me I needed a helmet since I am running in the 13's.

I think Ubers chip kicks ***. With some fine tuning to the software, the chip, drag radials (have 12.2 inch brakes no slicks for me ), and perhaps some traction bars I could have some better times and more power pontential. I barely did jack tuning running Ubers chip and still was able to put out good times, running full interior, tool box and jack, 17's with street tires and 7lbs of boost. I was still running rich as hell because Mase was there and reported gigantic black clouds shooting out my exhaust. All and all, if your a poor college student like me, or just poor, and want some real fuel managment, Uber's chip is the way to go.

(Uber happy now? )

Sounds like you love your chip as much as I love mine! I just bumped the boost up to 9 pounds and it runs like a bat outta hell! I could be alot faster because of course its running rich, but ill be hitting the dyno next week and sending uber my new settings, so we will see what happens

Damn, pretty good job. His chips seem to work pretty well. I might pick a couple up for the shop.

I like the reaction time of the last run too

Hey nice runs! I'm not too familar with your setup other than you have a hatch with an ls motor, so you could post those? I just goy my uberchip, and I'm waiting to get my ECU back to put it in - can't wait to see what my car might be able to do.

good runs dude, running 15's and then getting it down to 13's in one night is a good improvement.

the last time seems pretty well for how rich it was and your 60 ft times combined with the Uberchip. But do you have a time for your previous setup for a comparison?

Heres my setup:

T3/T4e
COMPRESSOR .60 A/R HOUSING 57 TRIM WHEEL
TURBINE .48 A/R HOUSING STAGE 3 WHEEL

Max Rev Manifold and downpipe flared to 3" at the cat
3" Test pipe
3" Thermal Exhaust
Tial Wastgate
Greddy type 31 intercooler
Greddy Type S BOV
Home Depot MBC (Air Regulator Type)
ACT Xtreme /street disc
Clutchmasters 9lbs flywheel
Cometic Head gasket
ARP headstuds
460cc Rx-7 Injectors
MSD external coil
thats about all that comes to mind

Yea no ****! Its called no track driving skills

I mean its a good alternative. Also, its not like Uber isnt devolopment his **** further. His new release of the software will be 10 times better than now at a fraction of the cost of hondata.

Do you mean with just the afc hack or my previous turbo setup?

haha maybe some day . I think moding the whole exhaust to a 3" setup really frees up the top end. Hopefuly I can catch your 12 sec runs Still nothing is better than the tech support line.

Good deal. Can't say I'm surprised it works great for you.

Sorry to nitpick in your thread, but...

I was using Filetofits circuit (badass) before the chip. I used the circuit to "semi-tune" the chip using my butt dyno. Since the circuit adjust fuel according to map voltage, unlike the AFC, it was better suited to do adjustments
filetofit's voltage divider and the AFC both manipulate MAP voltage. Either would work well to tune the mixture a bit. The AFC is set up a bit slicker so you can adjust the tune by rpm, but Chris is a bright guy and could add a couple more opamps to his design to adjust the mixture at certain pressures which would give similar/identical results.

lol yea i see what your saying, i was just going by what uber told me. He thinks tuning by rpms only is ghetto...something along those lines.

i meant track times with the afc hack compared to track times with the good-enough tuned Uber chip (which we already have). so just times from the afc hack with your current turbo hardware

ahh i got ya. Sorry no official track times with the hack. But the semi tuned chips feels much stronger Sorry cant add any more info about that.

We disagree on a lot of stuff, but the finer points aside he won't steer you wrong.

So does Uber... that boy is 134% code monkey, no room for much else in that tiny pin head of his.
