Default ITR wheel with CW paint stripped pics

Well, i started the process of refinishing my CW ITR wheels in GM. Some members wanted to see what the wheels will look like with the paint stripped. Well here it is:

I used aircraft coat remover like some HT members here suggested........worked pretty good though it took 3 tries before all the paint came off. Now i will have to sand, prim, and paint. Hope it works out!

Now will some kind HT member please tell me the paint code of the stock ITR GM wheel color?

That looks crazy.

You should weigh them, maybe they're lighter now w/o the paint.

Dang, nice! I was reading your other post about stripping them off, i might strip my Gun Metals and polish them. I think they look like NSX wheels ( just like what everyone else thinks ). How long did the paint stripping take? I wanted to do it but im still considering the looks first. We figured out what we need to take the paint off, what do we need to polish them? Post some more pics after you're done. I'd like to take a look at em.

The stripping is not that easy......or maybe because i was cheap and didn't use enough of that aircraft crap remover! But in all, it took about 2.5 hours of TLC to get the wheel looking like that. I will post more pics as i continue through this project.

Does anyone know the process of polishing the wheel? I thought about this too seeing a silver ITR wheel will be RARE!

And still looking for the paint code to GM ITR wheels....

Solaris Silver, paint code NH-536M

There are NSX wheels, and there are NSX wheels.

The '94-96 NSX wheels are 7-spoke and have a gunmetal paint finish. Aside from the larger size, they look almost exactly like gunmetal ITR wheels. Same color, Solaris Silver.

When you talk about how the wheels here look like NSX wheels when polished, I think you're referring to '97-01 NSX wheels. Those have a different finish from the '94-96 NSX wheels but are otherwise the same. The finish for '97-01 looks like a polished, brushed metal with a clear coat on top for the outside of the spokes - kinda like the stripped wheels above - and a bright silver paint finish (color - Blades Silver) for the insides of the spokes.

when you put the paint stripper on did you just let it sit or did you scrub it off?

The instruction said to leave it on for 20 to 30 min....i left it on for around 20 min and started using a scraper and gently started scrapping the paint off. But like i said, it took more then 1 round to strip the paint......in all, it took a total of 3 rounds before all the paint came off. But i think with the 2nd wheel, i am going to CAKE that crap on and hopefully, everything will come off with one round! Keep you guys updated.

What was the temp when you did this. Aircraft remover works better at about 80 degrees. I had great results with it in the summer and terrible results in the winter.

I did it in my basement so the temp should be around 21C.
