i don't feel that comfortable griding away the fork material. you are effectively making the fork weaker by doing that (or so i think). i would just use the method posted on here before where you just remove the brake brackets and move the fork up higher.

fyi, if you run konis, they don't even have the brake bracket which makes it even easier to do.

You are only grinding .030 from each side, thats not going to hurt anything. The EG/DC forks are beefier to begin with. And the EF is lighter than both an EG and a DC.

I have AGX's, not koni's (too much $), and I didnt want to void the warranty.

Its not like I took material from the middle of the fork "prongs" (and even if I did, the EG one is much beefier than the EF one). That would make it weaker. Not taking material out of the middle of the hole.

Do whatever you want to do, I just posted this because maybe there was someone else who didnt want to tear up their shocks.

I don't want to jack you thread either but I don't know why you didn't just use the ef fork as the eg fork doesn't give you any kind of travel increase and its jusst heavier. The EF for is just as strong as the eg fork.

the brakeline bracket on stock shocks bangs off so just bang it off and move the fork up you don't have to use spacers or pieces of pipe. the fork will never creep up.

I don't know what those guys are doing in the above link with the illumina.

On the AGX its safer to cut the bracket off as sliding the fork up over the braket won't give the fork the most area to clamp down on. I know you are worried about warrenty but to tell you the thruth KYB are bitches about their warrenties anyways.

anyhoo heres the link

But good job anyway you did it right if you don't want to touch the shocks.

Well, I would have had to grind the crap out of the hole to make the EF forks work, and I didnt want to do that. I also didnt want to touch the shocks, or else i wouldve done what you did.

I think it is clamping down enough, thats why I made the spacer.

If I am worred about anything its the bolt. Time will tell.

Thanks for the replies everybody. Its always good to get some feedback.
