Removed power steering belt....
Ok i did this last night and i felt a nice increase in low end power. it is wayyy harder to turn but i can manage. has anyone else done this and did you feel any power from it??
i did, and I didn't feel crap. Not to mention it dawned on me it's *really* hard to turn, *even while you're moving*. That isn't right. You can't remove just the belt. When you turn the wheel, you'll be turning the manual rack and pinion, which is going to try to push against the hydrolic called the power steering. It's not going to let you do this. What you'll end up doing is just ware out the rack and pinion alot faster. If you want to remove it you'll have to loop the power steering lines out of the rack together.. otherwise the valve that the power steering pump goes into is going to block all the flow, causing you to also put alot of presure on your lines
btw> i've seen dyno's of this done before and after... it gained something like 2 hp across the board... if you're looking for every ounce of power, it helps, but if you want to auto-cross or something, it's not worth it at all
Ive heard just remove the pump altogether and save 12 lbs. plus your not fighting the system which makes it easier. and 2 hp is worth it 2 me. i dont autocross so im cool with the stiff steering. it doesnt bother me at all. i dunno how to remove all the stuff though.
