Does your camera have firewire? Should be easier than an old fashioned capture, and higher quality. If you already have a descent video card, it will be cheaper to buy a capture card.

For captures I have used ATI, and Avertv cards with virtualdub. Virtualdub is a free video capture software. Best method is to use a blank drive. Capture with huffy codec. This codec is lossless, with about 2:1 compression, and pcm for audio. Then convert to your prefered codec afterwards. Capture without huffy can overwhelm harddrives and you may get dropped frames.

Your camera has firewire. You need

a firewire card (for your computer)
a firewire cable
a firewire video editing/capture software.

Thats all.

I'd get something like this if you don't have any of the above.

My DV does have fireport, but i got a Pinnacle Studio 7.0 before and it doesn't work.......
Therefore, I may use a video capturing device like those with S-Video In and RCA input.
Will you guys suggest me to buy a new IEEE 1394 card and use Adobe Premier to capture video? Thks!

If you have firewire then USE IT, it is much better quality then a standard tv capture and you can buy a firewire card 40 bucks at http://www.buy.com

After you get all that just use some kind of editing software like adobe premiere and off you go.

good luck, have fun, and post up some sweet videos when you are done!
