Ride: 1992 Red VX (Full Stock Interior/ Exterior)
Heart: JDM B20B About the same or better then the USDM B20Z
Performance Bolt On's: ACT Heavy Duty PPlate w/ Street/Track Hybrid Disc, ITR AEM CAI, Carsound 2.5 Perforance Cat, 2.5 Piping, 2.5 Magnaflo Resonator, 2.5 Oval Magnaflo muffler.

Went to the track yesterday. Never got a good run but did a 14.8 at best. I can't drive at all, I missed 4th gear twice .....yes make fun of me. I pulled on a white type-r about 2 cars and missed 4th at the end of the track and he blew by me while i rolled in a 14.8.......he did a 14.7....i'm guess i could of gotton a 14.5 or .6 Was always ahead of him. The track was so packed I couldn't get anymore runs.....but i'll be back. oh on a side note, i was running on the stock small 13 inch vx wheels and tires ...

Hope this helps

Can't wait to slap on a Vtec head.....

I hit a 14.64 on a USDM B20Z2 (which is the same as the JDM B20B). My mods were a **** box DC 4-2-1 with an old school HKS catback. I also had a crappy Short Ram intake too. I was running stock ITR clutch with a USDM ITR tranny.

The tires were 195-55-15 stock ITR Bridgestones.

BTW, It was an EG Si with full interior, PS and AC pulleys.

From what I knew, USDM was B20b, and JDM was B20Z...

Maybe im mistaken? Pretty sure it was that way though.

Why bother with wasting all that money on a B20 to hit mid-high 13's???? Mista Bone hit 13.08 with a D16Z6 on only a 85 shot. I am hitting low 14s in a full interior coupe D16Y8 on a 75 shot. With my hp and tq I should actually be able to hit a high 13. Can't figure out why I'm not yet.

a B20 with NOS/slicks would rape your D series times.

fast gas

b20 with bolt ons + 12lb flywheel = rape your squeezin d series off the line

HA! Not if he is only expecting mid to high 13's.Thats what worries me, I hope he would be faster, considering Mista Bone also proved d16z6 + Zex 55 shot + slicks can put you into the high 13's. d16z6 + 85 shot + slicks made 13.08 and with 310cc injectors he expects 12s now. So whose raping who?

That's gonna be hard to do considering my "squeezin d series" puts out about 170 ft pds of tq @ 3000 rpm to the wheels.

Ive looked into it a little more and im sure I will be faster than high 13's I just wanted to give a coservative estimate. I cant wait to get the engine in, but im still undecided on which tranny would be best, any ideas?

whoa....that's pretty good considering you have the lower compression one w/ lower hp then the B20Z or JDM B20B..... to u..

You guy must drive like **** or build motors like **** (or both) If you can't hit a very deep 13 with slicks with a b20. My 1.8 owns all of your times with none of that gay *** nos ****!

I don't know exact years, but USDM started with b20b and moved to b20z.

no way a straight b20 w/out a vtec head on it can do deep 13's, so far the best i have seen w/out any major mods to a b20 besides just bolt-ons has been a 14.5 on street tires....and the usdm B20B's were out for 97-98 w/ 126 hp lower compression and 99-00 was the b20z which had higher compression w/ 146 hp.

Do you think its possible to break a 13.0 with the 100 shot, slicks and bolt ons with a jdm b20? My car is pretty damn light, its a vx with about 75 pounds worth of **** removed and i weigh in at around 165.

I would hope so... I plan on breaking 12.99 or better with a D16 and 100 shot and my car is heavier than yours.

What is your setup? I tried asking questions about cams for a b20 to no avail last week.

vtec is not to make your car faster it is to make your car use less gas. If you have a head shop put vtec size valves in a b20 head and run some cams with the same lift and duration as the vtec cam the only advantage the vtec head would have is slightly higher compression ratio. Mill the head a little and you would have an even playing field. I have a friend that put down over 200hp with a b20 and no vetc. I want to see the 60ft times of these guys who can't do better than mid 14's with a b20.

Don't forget the vtec head will have better valve springs, retainers, and better flow. After working the B20 non-vtec head it will cost more than it would to buy a vtec head. I'm not saying you can't make power out of a non-vtec head though, because you're right it is designed to give good gas mileage when not in vtec and then when the power is needed vtec engages and you lose gas mileage, but gain power and high revs.

True on the cost but you can save about $400 on the cheaper LS cams.
This is a dyno plot of a CRV with no vtec
