rpms go to 7200..... they are suppose to go to 8000? mechanic checked it out and said there was nothing wrong.... advice, thoughts, coments?

doesnt the gsr redline at 8600 ?

look at your ecu , what code is on the side of it ?

 

did you buy your car used or buy the ecu from somebody ? chances are that wont be a gsr ecu if the label is missing .

 

He bought his car used, and it came with that ecu. the number is scratched out on it, and it just says ls/gsr auto/5spd. It seems that all thats wrong with it is that the rev limiter is too low, so could it just be he has maybe an ls ecu?

 

does the VTEC activate ? if it does i dont think it could be a LS ecu .

Yeah, haha, I have to be his representative. It's a stock GSR, so it would be hard to hear vtec in the first place, but when we listen to it, we dont hear vtec.

um...6800 ??? been a long time , i forgot what the LS goes up to .

 

6800 or 6900, the fuel cutoff is 7100

 

don't mean to be a ***** but I've taken my ls down to 7200 and no fuel cut off, just some hesitation, but I guess itz somewhere around there anyways

So would it be worth while for him to just get a p72 and see if that fixes it?
