Default osaka might have screwed me... need some help.

ok, i'm now wondering if the motor i got from osaka is obd1 or obd2.

is there anything i can look at on the motor itself that would tell me weather or not its obd1 or 2?

they gave me an obd2 ecu and i'm hoping its just the ecu that is wrong.

also, i'm pretty sure its leaking oil. i'm hoping its just something stupid like drain plug or gasket and not the oil pan.

osaka... shame on you. wrong ecu. if its the wrong motor, someones getting firebombed.

thanks

look at the timing belt side..... see if you see a crank angle sensor.... 3 wire plug hanging out of the back of the timing belt cover. also check the throttle body for a map sensor, obd2 (at least the 97+) had the sensor on the tb, obd1/fake obd2 (92-96) had the map on the fire wall. you can also measure the resistance of the injectors. the 92-96 are 3-6 ohm 345cc, 97+ are 12-15 ohm 290cc

you wouldnt be able to use the engines harness anyways because the plugs are reversed.

i think thats why i thought it was obd2. because it has 4 plugs.

um, but yea, i guess if you chip it it will be fine.

Yeah but the thing is you souldnt have to chip it. It should be the right ecu that is suppose to come with your motor. I cant believe that Osaka is still in business.

i picked it up myself.

the ecu turned out to be OBD1 but its an auto ecu so it had four plugs.

i checked out the motor the best i could when i was there. TPS was broken, so they gave me a new one.

everything else was hacked off. i need a new throttle cable too.

i havn't opened it up yet, or installed it for that matter....

i'll let you know if it runs.

auto obd1 ecu's can be converted to manual very easily so its no big deal

Well you cant blame Osaka if you went and picked it up yourself, its your fault for not knowing what you were getting. When i went there and got my motor, i passed up 6 different motors before i finally got a nice clean one.

they were closed the day i went. they opened up just so i copick it up.

there was a motor that was pre picked on a pallet. 95 h22 w/lsd

there really wasn't anything else to choose from at the time.

they had an f22 but that was way over $1850.

i'm not blaming them, but they gave me an auto ECU for a 5spd motor.

i didn't know that much about h22's at all at the time. so that was that.

if you want to know the year of the head, you can look for a stamp on it which will state the year ex. a 94 stamp would be a 95 engine.

does'nt an h22 come with a p13?

show us some pics. what was osaka like when you went there?

If it was the SOHC, then it's a rip. But if it's an F20, that's a DEAL!
