I got pulled over for exhaust. The cops made me open my hood and they looked under it, checking for illegal parts. Then they told me that I needed to go over to a state referee station to get my car smogged. I know for sure I won't pass smog because of the modifications that I have made. I don't know what to do.
I have a '00 Civic Si with an older model engine that has been built. Please help me or what I can do to get away with this inspection without me having to change my engine. Thank you.

I have a 92 block with CTR pistons and CTR cams with headwork. I am running an obd-2 wires with obd-1 jumper. With iceman intake and JASMA header. Is it possible to use a '00 GSR or even a '00 ITR block? How about a stock '00 B16a2?

yup just switch the block over and just run obd-2 wires all the way thru and make sure everything for emmisions is hooked up..throw your stock intake back on and make sure you ahve a cat and visit the ref..

from what i hear, it's time for you to pick up all your stuff and move to florida. they don't have emissions testing there..
i'd slap on and ultra restrictive header. stuff a little bit of steel wool in the collector, put on a stock cat, restrictive midpipe and muffler. lean out the air/fuel.

well what does it say on your ticket?.. they took pictures in case you try to fight the ticket.. overall in the last year the police have stepped up on these types of tickets ...but basically you will be forced to visit the ref and pass smog.. otherwise you will be a gross-polluter.. yeah try to get the whole block.. because I do not know if there are differences in sensors on the head or intake manifold for B16A obd-1 VS B16A OBD-2 vechiless.. good luck.. if you go with the engine you have know you can pre-test and have a pre-inpsection and they will tell you what you need
damn that sucks man!! I live in cali too and I know how bad it is with all of these restrictions we have.
Good luck with your visit to the Ref~ !
Heres a
for you.

if only it was a emmisions test that would be to easy.. but here in Cali.. they do a visual like no other..they look at all vacumm lines and hoses.. if it's not OEM and they feel like being ****.. they'll fail you on spot

The ticket says:
27156(b)vc- Modified
Emissions system-State referee certification required. (Probable cause for modified exhaust.
Be careful people that are near Torrance or Gardena. The cops recently had a seminar to crack down on potential street racers. The cops told me that they look for cars that are lowered with rims and exhaust.

well the exhaust is what got you.. well basically now the ref will do a emission test on your vechile.. which from what I have read does involve a visual inspection.. you may want to contact your local REF and maybe ask a few questions on what he/she will go over when they need to Certify you or go to court and fight it.. but I wouldn't even know how or where to start with that
so they did take photos...i'm sorry bro, but you need a new motor. there is no way that you can pass smog with an older motor. however, you do have a time amount. you can goto the ref, fail, they should give u a ticket, u got like 2 months to pass, u can then register your car under dmv as a non-working vehicle and goto dmv and get a vehicle moving permit everyday.
or you can get a usdm b16a2...or borrow one.

is that legal for the cops to just tell you to pop your hood? someone told me that can't do that because it is like searching your car without probable cause. so it is technically illegal isn't it? i wouldn't pop my hood for them. i would just tell them that they don't have a right to search my car. i know i had to go to the ref i would be fucked
the probable cause can be said to be from the Modified exhaust.. which is a emmisions part of the vechile.. which leads them to believe that other parts of the emmisions system have been tampered with..this is the reason many cali people run stock OEM HONDA exhausts

From what i am seeing you got pulled over for Modified exhaust, I know they can now pull you over and send you to the ref if its too loud. I know that they have to test the exhaust noise decipals, but i don't know about the motor. i feel sorry for you dude, but i know my day will come sometime. try to find a state ref that may pass you if you pay a certain amount of money. you may have to pay up to a 1000 bucks, but it will save your *** and keep your car

there is no way a ref will take money.. they are run by the state and in no way would they ever be able to accept that since 2 or 3 guys work on the car at the same time ... and be weary of SGV area (alhambra mostly) it's probably one of the worst places since the cops have nothing better to do but pull you over for an exhaust
****** cops, i think thats kinda wrong in my opinion, i bet the guy (creator of this thread) wasnt even racing, i think the cops should only check that stuff if ppl are caught street racing.
