Re: Type R vs Evo (cr12500)
That was a really long run-on sentence.
If you don't know the pros and cons of each car on your own, I don't know what to say. Did you research either car? That would be a start.
People do not like to spoon feed others information if they haven't even attempted to learn something on their own.

Re: Type R vs Evo (ITR0863)
Evo only nets 180 hp at the weels, and weighs a whopping 3,200lbs!!! That sounds pretty slow and pigish. Theres no way a 3,200lb car will handle worth a crap..

Re: Type R vs Evo (jond)
well if 20hp is responsible for a .7 of a second of the 1/4 mile time then dam... i'll take 20hp more any day (stock 1/4 for a wrx is 14.5 - evo 13.8)
please try and remember the cars tested all had less then a thousand miles, not really a big suprise considering they aren't broken in...
thank u - happily purchsing a Evo in 2 weeks

Back to the original question, you'll really have to drive the cars to get anything close to a good decision. A test drive will tell you more about a car than reading statistics a million times over.

13.8?
If the findings in the members courner are right, you talking a high 17 second car.

180whp from a heavy Evo is .... terrible.
Only thing that saves it is the gearing I guess.
How are they losing 91hp from crank to wheels????

Also, cars do not make more whp as they get 'broken in'.

Of course its going to lose a lot more power to the wheels through the drive train, there is twice as much drive train to rob power.

13.8 with a trap of 101.5.... according to road and track... mid to low 13's are expected at a track closer to sea level. i think they tested theirs at around 2000ft above sea level...
unlike fwd cars with a ~15% loss from crank to wheels AWD loss is closer to ~25-30%
what up barry warry

Re: Type R vs Evo (jond)
yes that was the USDM, check the most recent issue of road and track, not to mention a 0-60 in 5.1... so if you still think it's a 16sec car i need some of what you are smoking

Re: Type R vs Evo (jond)
I wouldn't use that as hard evidence, are you supposed to enter bhp, whp, insert other variable here...... besides, put in 271hp and 3200 lbs and you get 14.1, close to what the magazine number was.

Re: Type R vs Evo (Brian*Blue95M3)
Its whp. Put in the whp of a type-r and the weight, and you'll get about what we run.
You're right though, the fact thats its 4 weel drive probably throws this thing off a bit. Can't imagine it would throw it off by 2 seconds though.
edit: I take that back. Its net hp.
