Endicott out in testing...
Just caught the blip on http://www.theracesite.com
Had a mechanical and came across pit lane and Boris nailed him.
Hopefully they can get the car fixed. I've seen the car come together over the last couple of months - from stripped unibody to complete car. I'm going to try and get details tomorrow.
Was anyone there for testing? I'm very very curious to get an opinion on their chances for starting the race.
Also, PD just had his baby. Wondering if he made the trip.

Is this the Speed World Challenge? I didn't know Hans Stuck was in that

" Bob Endicott's day , and not to mention the weekend/event is ended after 2 hours into the first on the track practice session when he is coming off track and hit by Boris Said coming at a very fast speed out of the pits. Bob was signaled and told by the corner woker (as he slowly paced up the straight to get off for some mechanical problems) to cut across and come over into the pits. Apparently, the corner worker did not see boris or they would have never gave him that signal."

From reading the article, it looks like HE nailed Boris by swerving into pit exit (of course unintentionally)...In the words of Juan Montoya, "Sh*t happens"
"It was the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me in racing and something that should have never happened at all. I was coming out of the pits and Bob Endicott, driving a Honda, must have been having a problem and just at pit out made a hard right directly across my bow. Everyone knows that you don¹t come into the pit exit from the race track. Bad, bad timing.
I must say, WTF was this Endicott guy doing?
unfortunate incident for both

Conflicting stories...theracesite.com says that the car was "errant" as it made a hard right into Said's car. Jean Kinser reported that it was waved across the pit lane by a corner worker.

Team PTG was fortunate enough that the strange accident yesterday that damaged both Boris Said's BMW and Bob Endicott's Acura RSX seems to be repairable. As for King Motorsports, the damage is not going to be repairable and the team has chosen to withdraw their RSX

This Endicott guy was doing just what the corner worker instructed him to. I have it on another authority other than that of Jean Kinser. The RSX had engine problems and was waved off by the corner worker who wasn't paying attention to pit exit.
Yes you aren't supposed to come into pit exit but you are also supposed to pay attention to a corner worker who is you eyes and ears outside of the car.
It is a very unfortunate accident especially since they had a spare motor and could have run the race had it not been for this. And because I was lucky enough to see the car before it left and the thing is absolutely beautiful.
Thankfully no one was hurt and hopefully Scott and the crew can repair the car.

I talked to "Bob's 'a Racin'" from King today. They will be back here in WI tomorrow.
Endicott is okay.
It's just a real bummer - I know how hard Tim and Chad were working to get the car ready. Everyone had a lot of time and energy invested in the effort.
Knowing Z they will be ready for round 2.

wonder if the HANS didn't play a factor? ie Endicott was unable to turn his head enough to see Boris coming...it's hard for me to trust the corner workers to direct me when I can't see and now it'll prob. be impossible for Endicott to ever trust them again...

"It was one of those one in a million things. Boris did nothing wrong, and with the HANS device, I had to trust the corner workers. If one of a million things had been different, this wouldn't have happened. Now all we can do is go home and regroup for the next race.""
