Default scared of theives

I am planning on moving to dallas here pretty soon and I live in a small town where nobodys car gets stollen but i know in dallas car theft is really bad. I have a nice alarm system but is there anything else i can do to prevent theft. Is there an easy way to dissable the ignition? thanks

you can either rewire the dist or fuel pump wires to a kill switch... remember if theres no spark or fuel together there will be no running motor.

or you can simple just ge ta auto lock... i think its like 50 bucks or so but i hear its good....you can get it at your local mall's "as seen on TV" shops or kragen.

why even bother. you already know theives can get past any possible anti-theft device. i wouldn't waste my money if i were you. my friend bought his 00 si as a theft recovery, guess what was in the car: a clifford alarm. my other friend bought a 97 integra theft recovery, guess what was in the car: a lojack. do the math.

alarms, autolock, kill switches, all of these WILL deter thieves. It wont stop them from stealing the car if they really want it, but if your car has these security devices, it will make them think twice.

I know some one on the board posted something like this...

One thing that caught my eye was the addition of deadbolts into the car door. Similiar to deadbolts found on house doors but electrically activated through an actuator (same thing that unlocks your doors when you set alarm off). A couple of HT members actually deterred a theft of their car(s) because the theif couldn't open the door.

Anyways, it would be good to add everything that people said before me with the addition of the deadbolts. I had my car stolen once, now I have autolock steering wheel lock, autolock pedal lock, 2 kill switches, a viper alarm, and some brass knuckles . Another reason for all this is because I heard and read that Hawaii has the highest auto theft and crime rate in america.

yeah, i agree with EKFerioHawaii, Id defenitely run an autolock, club, and good alarm. you can never be too cautious. id recommend the top of the line viper. but no matter what, all this stuff can only prevent theives......if they really want it, they will take it.

i agree , personally i would have an alarm and the autolock. i'm sure a lot of theives saw the infomercial for the autolock and saw how the club doesn't work.

but another thing that can be done is by removing a certain chip from the ecu which will disable the car. i saw this awhile ago on another topic like this one...hope that helps

can someone explain to me besides having the car towed how thieves would surpass the autolock and actually take the car,..i was skeptical of the infomercial but now that i see people actually suggesting it,..im thinking about getting one,..how would thieves take your car with the autolock,..they made the autolock look impossible to brake,...also,..they said you only get 3 keys with your autolock,..and even the manufacturer doesnt have a copy of it,..what the fawk happens when you lose all three keys or something???

In reply to the Hawaii comment:

Does anyone see the irony of stealing cars on an island? I know stealing cars is NOT funny, but I see a little comic irony...Just to lighten up the situation.

In response to the Autolock question:

When you lose all 3 keys, you get a Locksmith. There ARE ways to break the autolock. It isn't unbreakable because I've SEEN it broken. [no, it was not related to car theft, it's a tool i've seen for locksmiths]

just sleep in your car with a loaded shotgun. if theives really want your car, they'll take it.

another method of deterring theives is to not give them eye candy when you're not around with the car...
maybe at night you can garage it or if it cannot be garaged... get a car cover...

I always keep a 12" *****, some butt plugs and a jug a vaseline on my front seat at night.. i like to think that it would deter the thieves from touching my steering wheel and/or door handles.

And if that doesn't work, if you know you are gonna be somewhere for a long time, like at a mall, or at school, or at home at night.. rather then **** around with a kill switch, just take some hardware from your car around with you so that there isnt any way they could possibly start the car.. like your sparkplugs or fuel pump or something.

an alarm (a REAL alarm, with ignition and fuel kill) plus an autolock should work... what kind of theif will be skrewing with the autolock trying to get it off while the alarm is blasting?

best thing would be to keep it in a garage at nite. if someone really wants your car they will take it. there was a guy in my neghborhood that had his Si stolen and he only got back a few scraps bout the size of a text book.

i guess the only way to keep your car from getting stolen would be to get rid of the dead give aways like jdm **** if you have it? get rid of gauges or hide them.
and dont tell or pop your hood for no one. and keep a way from the street races
if your out there beatting mustangs and firebirds i'm sure the theives are going to know what you have.

there is nothing you can do to stop a thief that really wants your car. all you are doing is slowing them down a couple of seconds.

If i was worried id take out my plugs and/or wires.

Also guys don't forget with alarms that have loud sires INSIDE the car will sometimes annoy the thieve to the extent of not stealing your stuff but even work and completely destroy your interior. I've heard of this case many times. Just think coming back to your car gauges gone and seats torn apart and your dash completely torn apart, cd player smashed, and carpet all torn up....

i dont agree with this...my car got stolen and i havent been to street races in like 2 years..one of my friends cars got stolen about 2 weeks after he got it he had just finished swapping his parts over from his totaled 4 door

me and a friend were talkin about this last night....i think theives now see a clean car and think there is prolly a built motor in there and then they see a riced out civic and think its all bullshit...
