Only the CTR LSD will fit. The ITR LSD is a larger diameter, and the CTR uses the smaller diameter that works in Cable trannies, LS trannies, and the 92-93 GSR transmission.

HTH.

I have asked the same question on different forums and I am always told it won't fit. Do you have first hand experience with this? have you installed a CTR or ITR LSD in a Y1, S1, J1 or YS1?

Thanks

i was thinking of doing that same set up, but with a usdm ys1 mainshaft & counter shaft. usdm itr 2/3/4, with a 92-93 ys1(gsr) fd ring gear on the ys1 differential(or itr lsd if i can get one for a reasonable price). i have all the parts, except for the gsr fd ring gear wich i got to get at the dealer! so i'll have ls 1(actually gsr with the 4.40 fd), itr 2/3/4, and ls 5th wich should be a touch slower than a gsr fifth! i hope it works, since is all theory at this point!

What happens if you change the FD? Higher number FD = higher revs at highway speeds?

so, can you just put the LSD without changing the shafts and gears?
I like the gearing on my Y1, and don't want to play with final drive gears and custom gearing.

I'd like to know how the GSR/ITR bearings are even remotely close, because they're not at all, aside from being sealed roller bearings, that's it. They are different sizes. Also how do you fit the 92-3 YS1 ring gear on the R lsd, the housing and ring gear of an R lsd are physically larger than the YS1, and for you to be able to put the ring gear of a YS1 on the R you would have to have the inside edge machined out to fit (which there is no way in hell I want that in my trans! Kind of like having wheels without the center fiting snugly around the hub ring, ok for wheels, bad in trans). Then the case of the R lsd is larger diameter then the YS1, it's possible this could fit, I have never tried, but it doesn't look promising looking at the two side by side.

If thats the case then you cant use the ITR LSD it will only work with the 98Spec or 96 Ring gear
