I am currently installing ITR cams on a 98 GSR and when I took the cam caps off I see there is a ring on the intake side where the distributer goes on the cam. I thought the way to tell the cams apart was by that ring.
1 ring = JDM 95-00 ITR cam
2 rings = CTR/00-01 US ITR
Well the cams in the car look just like #1 there on the chart.
So does this mean the car already has ITR cams in it? My GF got the car in 2000 from the dealer. It was a lease return.

i wouldnt know for sure, but im sure the two cams(the type r one and the gs-r ones) would look very simliar, condisdering they can be swapped.

It's not that easy to compare. I don't have anything accurate enough to measure them. I did find one thing different.
The raised ring on the end (before the small end goes out with the ring on it) has 2 groves in it, while the ones I bought has one grove in to so there is one thing different I see on them so far.

 

Anyone have a pic of a 98+ GSR cam?
