Okay, this has been touched on, but what would be a good source for synchronizer replacement for 3rd that goes out so often in these motors??

Is there a source for OEM replacement or is there another Honda motor that I could get one from??

but can you buy just the 3rd gear synchro, and if so which one - this is for a JDM 1991 s1 tranny??

i have yet to try it, but the 90 ls tranny(s1) should fit the JDM S1 tranny! i know for sure that the bearings are the same, i'll be buying some soon!

 

The JDM S1/Y1 trannies use D series synchros. The 88+ D 3-4 are the same as the B 3-4-5, but I can't help you on getting gears.

I can get you all of the stuff you need for your tranny but I'll have to wait untill I get back to japan in the Summer ..

Also the Syncro's come in sets.... I.E. 1~2 / 3~4 / 5+R

A compleate 'syncro' rebuild kit is 350 Shipped to your door ...but a 3~4 set would be less than that

yea, i only need the 3rd, but it really is noticeable in the 2-3 upshift, and since i am going into a new motor before rebirthing "ruby", so to speak, i need it redone. however i hope not to wait until next summer.

also, the above mentioned possible "d" series connection/thread is not an s1 - what would be the differences btwn. s1, y1 and ys1??

also, everybody says integra 90-91, but is that the truth & will they work?

 

does this rebuild kit include bearings?

as in 2 AND 4 or 2 THROUGH 4? i need for 3rd

s1...when im approaching 8k in 3rd gear, the shifter will make a rattling noise. what the deal? this only happens in 3rd gear approaching redline.

 

do u have an underdrive pulley or something throwing off the harmonics of crank rotation since at a certain frequency you may have a rattle - high speed balance of bottom end good....i should have the answer to this question by tomorrow about if the 90-91 ls gear & synchronizer are the ticket on this prob
