Where do the ground wires go!!!????
Alright i need to know where ground wires come fron on the engine...so far i know one comes from the valve cover, tranny, and really thats all i can remember. Please someone reply and tell me where they come from. thanks.
There are 3 ground around the engine. One is at the thermostat housing. The wires that are grounded there come off the engine harness. Then your battery is grounded to the tranny and the valve cover is grounded to the front support member.
i wouldn't ground your valve cover to the chassis tho you'll get a better ground underneath the valve cover on the right side theres a hole for i think a 12 mm head bolt i would ground it there. also make sure you keep your grounds VERY clean i had horrible elec. problems because of dirty grounds

i believe he was talking about on the head, but i'm not sure, does it really matter tho, i mean as long as you just ground the head?? And another thing what's the deal with hypergrounds when you get them how many of them are there? Couldn'ty ou just make your own with some speaker power wires??
There was a post awhile back saying why it was suppose to be grounded there, anyways yeah you could make your own with speaker wire.

So jdmturboef it was a bad ground that you had. i read your post a while back and I am having that problem with the car still running too.. Which grounds should I check first? It may be my ignition switch too b/c I haven't checked that either. Later.
Actually your not suppose to use that spot. Your suppose to use the spot on top of the valve cover. Like in the picture below.

OK with the ground that comes off the negative post it is one solid cable but it has a place where the insulation has been removed and there is a place where a bolt goes through it to the chassis then it continues on to the tranny. I will try to get a pic the manual I have handy doesnt show it completely so I will either take a pic or find it in one of my other manuals.

the negative cable goes from the negative post, to just under the battery where it bolts to the chassis, then to the tranny bracket. I'll look to see if i have a pic on my harddrive
i was talking about the threaded hole under the valve cover on the actual head. otherwise your grounding it to a valve cover with a RUBBER gasket. but as far as grounds go i did one from the battery with 4 gause wire and gold plated conncetors to the frame rail. first clean around the hole in the frame rail to the metal then bolt it and silicone over it. then ran the ground on the tranny the same way to a different hole on the frame rail, it's better not to have 2 on 1. i did the 1 from the motor the same way and have never had a problem since.
