AWD or RWD Crx Can it be done with a b series motor?
I have a crx and I love it, I am about to invest alot of $ into it, I have an ls swap about to go into it. I hear that there were like 100 awd crx's sold here in the US and alot more in japan. So a d series awd car is possible right? But what about B series awd or rwd. Can it be done. If anyone knows how and how much it would be let me know, or even if you've done or seen a d series done how much that would cost and what parts would be needed. Im just curious, cause after my current project is done I want to build an awd or rwd crx. Thanks
i think u got some bunk info about there being awd crxs made at any time. i think a few people have done this kinda swap using parts from the 4wheel drive civic, along time ago i was told that the tranny used for that doesn't hold up well under any kind of real power. something tells me your going to need nice chunk of change to even think about awd in a non awd car. buz dat ma tu sent
I saw a link to a CRX that had a B searies turboed with a CRV drivetrain.... Maybe someone will post it
I am sure that awd crx's and civics were available here and in japan, but that doesnt help me much, because I am going to have a boosted ls motor, so I would need a way to make a b series car awd. I am pretty interested in this, and well it would be worth a decent cost to me to do it someday down the road. Thanks guys
Yes there was an AWD Civic. It was a Wagovan. Other than that their are no AWD Civics/CRX's, to the best of my knowledge. And If there was I'm sure most of us would know about them

i dont see much of a advantage for a awd crx..since there are no trannys that will with stand good hp....rwd would be neat but then the engine would have to be placed like a s2000 and the floor pan doesnt have a big enuf hump for a trans to sit under..it could be done leaving the engine how it is using the awd setup disconecting the fwd stuff but then you have excess weight...I think Id keep it how it is fwd...Many CRX's have won road races being fwd...i figure it must work..the real time acuras beat the bmw's last year i thnink...I say if ya want AWD qickness visit the suburu dealer
if you've got money, anything's possible..
honda only made awd civics, which aren't full time 4wd.. the only ones we received were from 84-91 in a Wagon form.. in japan, they are still available but as a 4 door sedan.. no crx was ever bone-stock awd..

yeah awd is retarded, the system honda has is extremely effective, granted as of now im 120 hp and 100 ft/lbs trq. i can make 7000 rpm lauches with minor slippage. thats on 14 inch steelies too
No AWD CRX's were made in Japan ...ever! Not in test or production...there is an AWD Integra in Japan basedon a DB8 chassis...but thats it...
