B16 in a CRX, Trouble, Please help
I just bought a CRX with a B16 Swap. I have been driving it now for 2 days. Yesterday I had to push start it. After work I fixed the ground that wasnt attached to the engine, and I noticed the engine Idled nicer and I got better gas milage. However, today on my way to work, after it gave me trouble starting and stalled a few times while it was idling, the engine didnt sound quite right. It wouldnt go above 3k RPM's, if you tried it would choke and backfire. I started to smell coolant and while at a stop the temp rose pretty high. When I got to work I noticed that the coolant was bone dry. I will get something in there this afternoon. I know that the battery is dying, if you have any ideas as to what could be causing this, please let me know.
Check your oil. If you're coolant didn't go out the exhaust pipe, it dumped into your crankcase. You're oil should be a nice milky white now.
if thats the case, how do I solve that and how do I prevent it from happening again... and why would that stop me from going passed 3k RPM's?
put more coolant into it and replace the thermostat. see where that takes you. it sounds like it could be a blown head gasket. what color is you oil?

Can't rev past 3000k? The ECU when the main program goes bad, it'll default to limp mode which stops the revs to 3000-3500 and runs hella rich. It'll get you to where you need to go though. You probably have a chipped ecu? I've had to fix a couple chipped ecu's because the programmed chip went bad, Or solder connection broke, or the 74hc373 chip 20 chip went bad ect..... IF it's a stock ecu, that rare and I doubt that the stock ecu went bad. Try a different ecu that you know works. Or even run a stock Si ecu even though vtec won't kick just to see if it's the ecu.
*PROBLEM SOLVED* I just refilled the radiator since the oil was fine. I recharged the battery and I didnt have any problems. It loves to rev, but its damn loud. I need a muffler. Funny thing, before I bought the car I didnt see any CRX's on the road, now every morning there is a red SI that drives along side me on 95... kinda wierd to see two red CRX's on the road at the same time every morning I would assume.
Thanks for your help.
