Default What type of head is this?? Type r, Gsr, B16 ????

I sent this head to customer who returned back telling me that is not what i said it is. I pulled it off the car with my own hands and i know what type of head it is unless when the machine shop rebuilt it with new valve seals they did the switcharoo which i doubt happened. post only if you are 100% positive that you know what is. thanks

PR3 head = B16A as well as ITR/CTR head.

ITR/CTR is a polished version of the B16A head.

Absolutly right thats B16 or Type R.

Usually the Type R head has green paint on the back side of the intake cam main where there is a accecory brkt.

Just checked your pics and its a Type R

The dimples on the faces of the valves look too big to be ITR valves.

Look into the intake ports and look for the tapered valve stem.

How do you know? Not questioning your answer, i just want to know how
first off....
the B16A head is off either 1st or 2nd gen SiR's and also can be found in some Del sol's known as the B16A3
1 gen B16a1 or B17A(92-93 GSR)
2 gen B16A2
Del sol B16A3
Best used because of better flow through the head

and it will tell you on the head it self it should say above the exhaust ports PR3-1( 1 gen) PR3-2( 2nd gen ) PR3-3 ( 2nd Gen usdm delsol ...........

so whats the problem with the customer? just a jackass?
the customer was an idiot. he first sent me 300 to hold it for almost a month until he had all the money. i sent it complete to idaho overnight 180.00 shipping. he got it and his mechanic says its not type r. he asked somether Guru's in "idaho" and they said it doesnt have a port job. as if it is extremely noticeable stock and the head was sandlblasted also. he sent it back 100.00+ shipping and he got his money back minus the 300.00 non refundable deposit he agreed from the beginning for holding it. I'm sorry if i was ripping him off i would refund all his money if he caught me but I do not do business like that. my only thought was the machine shop did the switcharoo on me but now i know they didnt. he accepted his partial refund and went on his way. now what doesnt make sense to me is that teh customer paid 300.00,180,100, becuase he didnt think the head was type r. he thought it was b16. he knew the cams, intake manifold, throttle body, valves, dual valve springs, injectors and everything else was type r. for 580.00 he could have gotten it ported nicely and polished better than factory. made no sense to me at all.

If it had those valves oroignally form the factory its a ITR head. Only difference from B16 and ITR is the valve seats, valves, LMAs....and SLIGHT more port near the valve seats...and of course the paint.

the valves in it are the same ones that came in it when i pulled the head. the head had never been off the car either so i know its not b16.

and it will tell you on the head it self it should say above the exhaust ports PR3-1( 1 gen) PR3-2( 2nd gen ) PR3-3 ( 2nd Gen usdm delsol ...........

My 2000 B16 head is PR3-3 and my 2001 ITR head is PR3-4.
And it sounds like your customer is a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

Besides everything! PACMAN forget an Engine code. IF SOME CAN GUESS WHAT A B18C4 IS AND WHAT IT COMES IN, THEY GET A COOKIE.

Actually the best way to tell an 89-91 B16A/PR3 head from a 92-00 B16A/PR3 head is way easy. Although I can't tell in this pic...

but, if there's an embossed '30' in the area shown below (area between vtec solenoid & distributor) then its definitely a 92-00 head. Now, whether or not its an ITR/CTR head, the best way to tell is by looking down into the intake ports with a light and seeing the light port job seen below as well. There's also the green paint thats near the distributor mounting area, but that can easily be cleaned off. I was never kin to the head part number(s) (pr3-3 etc) since they all seem to be misleading sometimes:

Default Re: What type of head is this?? Type r, Gsr, B16 ???? (MotorMatrix.com)

so whats the problem with the customer? just a jackass?

the customer was an idiot. he first sent me 300 to hold it for almost a month until he had all the money. i sent it complete to idaho overnight 180.00 shipping. he got it and his mechanic says its not type r. he asked somether Guru's in "idaho" and they said it doesnt have a port job. as if it is extremely noticeable stock and the head was sandlblasted also. he sent it back 100.00+ shipping and he got his money back minus the 300.00 non refundable deposit he agreed from the beginning for holding it.
Can I pay the difference of what's left to pay on it and take it off your hands?
