Ok, so here's the story. A friend of mine with a 95 LS auto (funky49 on HT) has a slipping tranny. So I post around looking for one and find out that 311/DRAG lll Integra have in close to ATL. Seeing that ATL isn't a horrible drive, I arranged sleeping space with Cosworth (Thanks Sean!!) and Steve (my friend with the LS) rented a car to make the trip. So we agree to buy the tranny for $200 and to pick it up saturday feb 8th. We get to ATL, sleep friday night at Sean's then visit Baranco Acura to get some other parts, then start wasting time while calling DRAG lll's number every 30 minutes or so (he asked that we pick it up before 2pm, so we were trying our hardest). We started calling around 10:30AM and continued until 2:30PM or so. Finally we give up and head up to Pyro's place and I send them some more IM's asking them to call me. We go out and grab lunch and Sean calls TJ (RatedR) to see if he can track them down. 1-2 hours later we finally get the info.. According to 311 (Bryan) he claims to have told me that the tranny was sold and that I said I was coming to Atlanta anyways. Now to note, this came through a chain of people so it may have been varied some by that chain of people. In the IM history below (an admin/mod can verify it I'm sure, the only edits I made were to remove all phone numbers) you will see that Bryan did in fact tell me he though it was sold.. but then he talked to the guy doing the install and the story was that the guy who needed the tranny couldn't pay for the work so the tranny would be returned and would be available for pickup the weekend of the 8th/9th. So we continued our planning to make the trip and did in fact make the trip to get the tranny. The end of the story is that the tranny was sold "earlier that week" or so to someone they knew. So, to make a long story short, we are now out $117 for the rental, and ~$60 for gas. Thanks to Sean we had no hotel expenses at least.

What would I like to see come out of this? We'll neither party has even apologized for what happened.. I'd like that for sure. An offer of some of the $ we wasted would be great too but I don't expect these guys to offer that. So I'm posting this as a warning to others.. I would suggest highly against doing business with these guys.

Here's my IM history with DRAG lll INTEGRA and 311. The (4:57 PM 2/5/2003) IM is one I sent to DRAG lll's other account by accident and then copy/pasted to his normal account and to 311. Again, no edits were made except to mask phone numbers. I'm sure admins/mods can verify that.

Sucks that it was wasted cuz of some azzhole...

 

The only trannys near had much higher mileage, were older and were almost triple the money. This Atlanta one was only ~4 years old and had less than half the miles on my car.

There are plemty of people on this board who can vouch for me being a good seller. But the point is I was not even the seller in the situation.

 

Damn that sucks, that's why I buy local....

 

As for the reasoning, if we had the tranny we could swap it. Therefore, the car is question would have a non-slipping tranny as of this weekend as opposed to waiting for check to clear or MO to get there, then waiting for it to be shipped, etc. Since we were going to ATL to pick up the tranny, Len gave me a good deal on some other parts that we needed so we saved shipping costs and such on that as well. And we got to pick up some 40oz beverages that are not sold in FL. So it all came together with some other stuff but the main reason was the tranny. I would never ask for them to give us all the money that we spent since we did benefit from the trip some (and got to hang out with the cool ATL guys.. well a few of them anyways). As it is, I don't expect to get any of the rental money, etc back just based on my little experience with these guys. Trust me, if they had told us friday before we left we would have just had the parts that Len got for us shipped to us and thought nothing of it. The lack of communication is what pissed us off. If we had to get everything shipped it would (and will now) put off the repairs to the vehicle by at LEAST one week, if not two. The few extra bucks (compared to shipped a 90-100lb tranny and the parts from len) were worth it to get the parts in a very short time period.

 

You're the one who supposedly told me how it was sold, but last I heard from you it was still avail. It was at your house and it seems like DRAG lll didn't even know it was gone. Sorry, but you are involved and you involved yourself. You could have IM'd me just as easily as he could have since you told me the tranny would be back and ready for us this weekend. Don't try to make it sound like you had absolutely nothing to do with the exchange.

For your defense however, I have heard that you are a legit seller, but that still doesn't change any facts related to this incident.

1st of all, I never said I didnt post about selling the transmission. My point is I was not involved in any way with the logistics of selling the tranny. I told fyrstrtr that It was DRAG lll's tranny but at my house. As far as when they were meeting and even how much it was being sold for was unknown to me. I was not online from Thursday until this morning so It was impossible for me to IM anyone about it. That sucks that you came up here for nothing and I am sorry, but there is nothing I can do. Say what you want. I dont care.

 

I would really like to have the whole story. Since the tranny was at your house, maybe you can clear up some questions. When did it leave your property? How come DRAG III never told you when it was going to be picked up? Any other info you can give to help complete the timeline of events? thanks.

You did say that, sure, but then you also said that it was going to be returned and will be available without a problem. This was the last I heard from you. Yes, DRAG lll owned it but it was at your house. It really sounds like he didn't even know it was gone on friday when I was IMing him.
