Default MPFI in an auto?

ok so my friend has a DX and wants to do the MPFI. Will this be a problem if it is an auto? Does he need to use a 89 auto teg ecu and will it run too rich? Suggestions are welcome, just please dont suggest to get a 5 speed, this is just a temporary mod for him...

If he wants MPFI he will have to get the intake, throttle body, and ECU out of a 90-91 Civic EX thats automatic. You need the stuff from an auto for an auto.

OK I did forget about the distr. you need that from the auto car as well (not sure if there different but why take the chance??) So basically you need the ECU, complete intake manifold(throttle body, fuel rail, injectors),distributor, injector resistor box (and as much of the wire harness that you can get), and possibly some other little things I forgot you can do a search for the manual DPFI to MPFI swap and get a complete list just make sure that everything you get is from an automatic.

all 88-91 MPFI diz will work. I would also suggest the 90-91 EX auto ECU so your not tooo rich. That should be it. I would redo the DX engine harness its would be cheeper then buying one.

Well first the ECU wont work since the Si is 5spd and the DX is an auto. Second there are vacuum lines and such on a auto car that arent on a manual car so no you cant just take it off of the Si and put it into the DX auto. Since you have the Si as a parts car and its sounds like its whole why wouldnt you just swap everything from the Si into the DX? Meaning engine tranny and all?

well for 2 reasons....the si motor is toast, now i have been told a6 are layin all over but i have yet to find one. and second i have heard that auto to manual is a pain. i guess if i could find an si motor i would attempt it. i have a facility that has anything and everything you could ever imagine for tools and stuff 3 lifts... everything. my dad was a chysler mechanic for 13 years and is an automotive enthusiast so he knows cars but hates my hondas..lol but i think we could figure it out idk. has anyone ever done this? give me any helpful tips or just an overall of hard, easy or what? i was thinkin ctweb or somthin like that with the sweet red hatch did this but im not sure anyone care to help me out?

thanks alot
brandon

if there are so many a6s out there anyone got one they want to sell?

Well its something that I will be doing as soon as I get all of my parts together and my other parts car stripped and gone. If you ask me if your swapping the motor and the tranny at the same time I wouldnt think it would be very hard there is a mount that is different (tranny mount I think??) and the rear mount has to be moved over towards the passenger side and there are already holes there to put the screws in. The hole is already there for the cable for the trans (may have to open it up a bit some have some havent) and plus the throttle cable hole is the same as the current one just different lengths. The only other thing that you would have to worry about is the wiring but if you have a complete Si if you wanted (its what I am doing) you could swap over the complete harness and eliminate any wiring what so ever. Oh and the radiators are different the auto one has holes for the tranny lines from the auto to go into it but if you have the radiator as well another thing you dont have to worry about it. I would say go for it especially since you have an Si parts car thats how I started but then I got another parts car and I am looking into another one as well......
