My 92 GSR May Be Totalled (Pictures....sigh)
I guess it's bound to happen sooner or later, but my 92 Frost White Integra GSR may be totaled. I was driving home on Thursday night/Friday morning at 1:30am on a 25 mph road in an area called Grandview, down Grandview Ave. here in Columbus, OH. A woman turning left in a 98 Honda Accord did not look left and pulled directly out in front of me. I couldn't see her at all until it was too late, and I nailed her car with the front of mine without having a chance to slow down at all. Fortunate for me though, a Columbus police officer witnessed the whole thing. I was thoroughly surprised to see him there about 1 minute after the crash took place but was very happy when he said he was citing the other driver.
I took the car in yesterday for an estimate and right now it is at about $3700. At about 60% of the blue book value of the car they will total it, and since they didn't know the actual mileage of my car (new Japanese gauge cluster) they just used 165,000 miles as a test number.
I actually don't really mind either way if they total it or not and here's why. If they don't total it, I get a new front end. If they do total it, I get a big check which I plan on using to purchase my car back from the insurance company and also to buy a 92-93 RS to swap all of my parts over to. I will have a faster car, with hopefully a better body and a whole boatload of spare parts if anything ever breaks. I could make a lot of money off this deal if they total the car and be in better shape than ever.
What it used to look like:
Damage is to the hood, bumper, bumper support, almost all front lenses (including headlights), the radiator support, partial pass-side fender and part of the left front bulkhead.
You can see all of the pictures, including hi-res 1280x960 pictures at this link:

Anyhow, here's the pix:

Got a quick q, what kinda exhaust is that?

Alright, since I've gotten a few emails and several requests for parts already, I'd like to clear something up. If they total it, I WILL buy it back and will swap over all these things:
-Entire interior (including gauge cluster, seats, dash...)
-Engine (full long block)
-Transmission
-Entire exhaust and intake (exhaust manifold, intake tubing, and cat back)
-VTEC moldings
-Wiring harness
-P61 ECU
-Shocks, springs, & strut bars (never installed Koni yellows, installed Neuspeed races & Spoon bars)
-Full brakes (lines, calipers, rotors)
-Stereo
By the way, the insurance company finally got off its sweet *** and found me a rental car so I'll have my driving freedom again, probably in a Chevy Malibu or Grand Am :gay: And please, wait until I post up info of what happens in this whole situation, because if they don't total it then I'm not parting out anything. Speaking of which....I have $1000's in parts laying around...who wants some?
And for those of you who said resurrect it, it's not up to me. If the insurance totals it, I'm just buying it back and swapping over the soul (and GSR parts) to hopefully a better, lighter RS of the same vintage.

Fix it! Fix it!
Even if insurance decides to total it just buy it back. Besides the G2 GS-R is a rarity and it would be a pity to let it go.

custom exhaust? care to elaborate?
I would highly suggest a resonator for an exhaust that sounds good. Unfortunately, when I changed my email address the message boards booted me off as a registered user for god knows what reason. Here is the link to the mpg file:
http://palpatine.infinitedata.net/~j...na_dynorun.mpg
The exhaust was bought off of Ebay for a mere $100 or so. I had a local non-performance oriented shop weld the exhaust on for me, and provided pictures from an advertisement for an N1 style exhaust from Apexi. I drew a diagram for how I wanted the exhaust routed, and added that I wanted the tip to angle out at 30 degrees, with minimal bends used and 2.25" piping. One thing you may want to specify, in addition to a resonator, is to use a flange over the rear axle. It will cost extra, but it will be a lot easier to drop the exhaust. Currently, I have to drop the right rear LCA, and the sway to pull the exhaust out because it is one piece. It's only crush bent, but in the future I plan on upgrading to a full stainless system (which can cost more, because they have to have Argon tanks to weld stainless steel) utilizing mandrel bends and 2.5" piping.
Just make sure you buy the kind of canister you want, and be very specific with the guys at the muffler shop. Those guys are just trying to get their job done in the 9-5 time that they have, and often don't care a whole lot about the customer. I was lucky in that the guys who worked on my muffler were enthusiasts themselves. I had to take it back once because it was angled down, and they happily bent it up closer to the chassis.
I hope that helps.
