Default Check it out!!!! My swap is all done!!!!

It all started when I saw a B16A1 on eBay. I e-mailed the guy and asked if they had any more of these engines for sale. He said yes and that they were running a special, $850 foe the B16A1, Tranny, ECU. It was another $250 to ship. I thought that was a pretty good deal. So I bought one from the guy.

The company that he’s was shipping through DROPED 2 engines off of the trucks and one of them happed to be mine. When the engine fell it cracked the valve cover and head on mine. So I had to wait for like another 2 weeks before I got a new one. The guy that I bought the engine from felt so bad for the whole mix up he overnighted me an engine from California. This is what I got:

B16A2 Engine
B-Sires Shift linkages
Hydro Tranny
CV Shafts
ECU
A/C Compressor
A/C Mount
Not to bad for $1100 w/ shipping. It was overnighted and I received it a 10am the next morning. I came on a fully in-closed wood pallet. I was amazed when I saw all of the stuff when I opened the box.

Now came the hard part. It took my friend and me one night the get the old engine out. The engine was put in the following day. We had to take it out 3 times b/c stuff wasn’t fitting right. The HASport mounts I got did not fit right. I still have to return them. I had to go and get the rear bracket from an Acura dealer, it was about 45 mins. away. One I got the new mount it all went in fine. The C/V shafts went in fine too.

The engine wouldn’t start at first but I took it this place called “Theils Import Auto”. The two guys that work there know their stuff. The one guy used to have a ’91 Civ with a Turbo H22 . He custom did all the wiring.

The engine ended up having a blow head gasket. So the guy I bought the engine from paid for it all to be fixed.

I finally got to pick up my car and everything’s working great. I now know what Vtec is supposed to sound and feel like…BOOOOWAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! I am VERY happy with the overall swap. I love the new engine……Here is some pics during the swap and from today…

This is during the swap:

This is today..... I just got back from my first real ride...... ....Its kinda dirty but its in and working......Ill clean it later today.

I had to change the intake b/c of the snow...

Hope you guys like it!!!!

Not sure, they sent me the wrong HASport mount so I had to put togeter one from my old parts, it looks pretty good tho....

The guy that helped me with the wiring (Kurt at Thiels Import auto) races VWs. He want to set my car up for Auto-xing, I have to wait till I get some money again tho.

I have to spend some money on the body now. Is lookin a little..... old.......

From the time I unscrewed the first blot, till the time I go to take it for the first ride was about 3 1/2 weeks. I didnt have school yet so I had lots of time, it was just so cold some nights that I couldnt go out there and work on it. But now its all done....it was SO worth the time it took!!!!

Plus I got the old engine out and new one in BY MYSELF... and I am a little guy, my friends call me "Midget", they coudlnt belive when they came over and the old one was out and I did it all by myself.

I just cant say how happy i am that I did the swap, it seems like tons of work, and it is, but its so worth it, it really is.....

I did my first swap by myself too. In two days..

I'm not a midget though, more like 5'7 135.

Maybe you should learn some pysics. When air is forced in it will be eaiser for it to get to the engine rather than the engine doing all the work like with a short ram and cold normal cold air intake. It just makes more sense to put an intake on the front where the air can be pushed in rather than pulled in. Also great job with the engine.
