you can either shim the motor down or cut the ribs out of the hood, or for some money buy the si-r front end.

i would cut the metal supports out of your hood and if it still rubbs then buy a new carbon hood for a dohc...they are rather cheap and they are hott. but if you cut the supports out it should not rub...good luck

the metal supports are really easy to cut out:
-take a dremel or angle grinder and CAREFULLY cut thru the ribs where you need to get rid of them.
-then slide a razor blade under the cut rib and slice thru the rubber stickies that hold it onto the hood.
-it will come right off easy.
-the hood is unpainted under the ribs so have a rattlecan on hand if you care...
-don't cut the ribs out where you don't need to - it gets pretty floppy otherwise.
-when cutting don't cut in one spot for to long or else the heat will transfer quickly to your hood and the paint will bubble on the visible (outside of the car) side.

mounts mounts mounts. What kind of mounts are you using? a b18 should not sit higher than a b16 it should only hang lower. My b16 was not touching using HASport mounts.

i think you got it reversed it should not sit any lower than a b16 only a tad higher...deck height or something...i know i have one(b18C) on Hasports and yes i did cut the hood...it looks ghetto though

edit make sure you have enough cut out...i got nice little scares on my valve cover

the jdm front end includes the hood, which if you look closely at pics, you'll see its an inverse of the USDM hood. in other words, the middle portion sticks out rather than being indented. hope this makes sense. there are differences in the bumper as well, including the bumper signals.

It will hang no lower than a B16A. The distance between the driver's side mount and crankshaft centerline is the same on all B-motors (otherwise, B-series transmissions would not be interchangeable!). So a B18C oil pan will hang no lower than a B16A oil pan. It is the deck height that is different on the B18C. Specifically, it is about 8mm higher. So the head sticks up about this much more with a B18C.

My bad, sorry. Either way, I don't think cutting your hood is a good idea. Those supports are made to crumple a certain way in a crash and I think if you cut them them then the hood will not crumple the right way. I THINK.

I go w/ a carbon fiber hood man, help lighten the front after that power plant.

You got a Wings West kit? Blue? Dent in the driver side fender?

I don't call over $500 for a hood cheap.

I have the ZC hood to clear my ZC motor, you can buy it... with the car.

as always matt is right mackymcg has a b18c5 in his 91 STD and it hangs low only because it was shimmed down because of clearance issues with his hood.....and if u shim it down and have a lowered car ur gonna be sorry so u should spend the extra cash to get something done about the hood clearance

does the c5 fit with the a/c using the hasport mounts (or any mounts for that matter) or do you need to take it off for it to fit?

How you know that?

Went to some shops in Bellevue for the first time a while ago and you look like the guy I saw in the shop who had a CRX with a DOHC swap. All saw was a red valve cover on the motor when i passed your car.

Messed up this post, forgot to put the quote.
