Greddy says "Blue Box" can handle 11-12 PSI
Just thought all you guys that say it can handle only 7-8 PSI would like to see this. here is the e-mail I sent greddy and their reply

The unit is only limited to your factory MAP sensor and ECU settings. Since
your factory MAP sensor is maxed out at 11-12psi the FCU is limited to fuel
control to that point. And because to change the factory rev limiter you
need to reprogram the ECU, the FCU is not guaranteed since it was designed
for use on a stock ECU.
----well i feel better about running 10 PSI for the last year on it. but i have been running a 7600 rpm redline. I guess I'll use my shogun hypertuner to richen the mixture after 7200 to make sure i'm still ok after the factory rev limiter.

My brother had my kit before me and he chose to run the damn thing at 10 psi everyday with stock injectors and timing. He had a dsm SMIC, 255 fuel pump, and upped the fuel pressure a bit. Worked fine for him but I'm going to go with the hack instead. I don't trust it.

9-10 psi run 310 not 440 u wont idle without something to control those injectors...the stock 240cc technically wouldnt support 180whp safely on aboosted car...upgrade and play it safe...
I could not run 8+ psi! I would start to hear the marbles in a can
and would back off. After all of my overheating problems and dissapearing coolant, a closer inspection revealed It blew my head gasket.

Exactly. If you are keeping the blue box you have to keep the 310cc that is what the fuel maps in the blue box are designed for. Unless you get something else to control the fuel you wont be able to use larger injectors.

Exactly. If you are keeping the blue box you have to keep the 310cc that is what the fuel maps in the blue box are designed for. Unless you get something else to control the fuel you wont be able to use larger injectors.
my friends ek hatch gsr swap with greddy kit has been running 10 pounds for a year now with no probs and the greddy 310's with a profec b

bump...this is a good thread for those looking to get the most out of the blue box
can somebody explain how to recalibrate the blue box if i upgrade injectors? right now im running stock with 5.5 lbs boost but i want to turn it up to 7 or 8 when i get my intercooler in.
is this really true? blue box with 10/11 psi?.. id need more then just an email from some greddy personal that sells the item from there warehouse...was this a tech guy you emailed?

You cant. You can use a VAFC to adjust the fuel maps some.

I dont know if I would run 10-11psi on the bluebox. The blue box is written for 5.5-7psi I would not push it and run 10+psi on it. Why risk it? You fuel maps change drastically from 5 psi to 10 psi. You might run rich in one area and lean in another.

yes, true.....i've run ~10psi on stock fuel (minus 255 high pressure intank fuel pump) for almost 2 years and 50,000 miles. try it on a dyno, if you don't like the numbers it puts up (a/f), then you'll have your own personal proof of running a certain amount of boost.

OK, This is the best opportunity I have to finally show blue box users what actually happens. (In other words Im too afraid to post my own thread about this.)
In testing I used the newest Honda PGM tester that we have received about a month ago. This is what I found......
The blue box has predetermined tables for boost with 310cc injectors and the Greddy turbo kit right.....????? WRONG!
As a matter of fact it only has two functions.
One: Block a positive pressure signal from your MAP/Baro sensor by intercepting it and reconfiguring the signal to Honda's acceptable signal voltage for WOT.
Two: Idle your car with 310cc injectors at a respectable A/F ratio. (I said respectable, not perfect)
Soooo, after you break out of idle the Honda computer takes over and your right back to your original Honda tuning map. The way I worked this experiment was to test my car and take snapshots of my OBD-II data-list in different situations (eg. WOT, idle, partial). Then using the same car (99' Civic Si) without any modifications did the same. What I found was interesting to say the least. At idle, on my car injector duty cycle was much lower that the stock car, OK. But at WOT and partial...the exact same reading with extremely slight differences due to changing conditions like temperature and barometric pressure.
So, in closing I would like to say to all those who blame the dreaded blue box for the death of their engine...don't blame the box....blame Honda or yourself for over-boosting. Hope this adds a little enlightenment to all.
