Need Sites for MPFI Instructions and tips
I searched but due to the fact that Im an idiot I could not find what I was looking for. I am planning on doing a mpfi swap on my std hatch... I need sites with part lists, install tips, and other info.
Also, I was told that even if I do the mpfi swap I still won't be able to do much with bolt on parts.. anyone know if this is true or not? Do they make cams that will work in a mpfi d15?
So many questions.. so little time

I think you will notice a great improvement over stock by just adding the MPFI, but I am sure the DPFI STD cam is not suited for the conversion (different part number than the MPFI cam). You can use a D16A6 cam in your STD head because they are the SAME EXACT casting (and part number) for the Si, DX, LX, STD. This would also mean that you could use an aftermarket cam for the A6 as well.
Why not just pick up the real deal D16A6? I am making this suggestion becuase your STD probably has a lot of miles. These are internally weak engines to begin with so it's really pointless to build it up for decent power gains. You are just asking for trouble.
The D16A6 is a strong engine and will do much better than that STD 1.5 junk. You will need to swap out your STD knuckles and axles, but that's relatively cheap at about $200~$250 for those including lifetime warranty axles from Pep-Boys. You could also trash that STD gearbox and get a 5 speed off an Si. Save some time and work and pull the stock engine together with the tranny and put in the A6 with the Si tranny. Total swap parts cost should be under $600 if you look around.
If you just do the MPFI swap you should be able to upgrade with bolt on's like header and intake that the A6 use. Right now you could be using the header, but you would have to use the DX type intake. (A6 intake is different.)
Parts list for MPFI -
- 88~91 Si ECU (PM6 for manual tranny !!! Get the 90/91 if you plan to chip the ECU - 88/89 have different chips than the 90/91. They will both run the MPFI, but you will have a hard time trying to find someplace that chips an 88/89)
- Complete intake manifold from an A6, Z6, or a Y8. (Make sure it's from a manual trannied car.)
- Si/EX distributor
- Injector resistor box
- D16A6 injectors
- Si cam (not NEEDED, but will perform better)

So where can I find a decent condition d16? I haven't seen any sites that sell the engine as a swap and haven't really seen any for sale in my area.. And where would be the best place to buy the parts needed for the axles if there is no pep boys in the area?
