Dead car..what to check next?
yestarday morning, started the car...pull out of the driveway and it died, at first I didn't think anything of it, because I have always had to keep gooseing the throttle when it is cold out..untill its warmed up. So when I went to crank it again, turned over but never started. So I thought maybe it was frozzen, it was -15 the night before. So I let it sit..later in the day..I check the radiator and it was slush, so I emptyed it..ran water threw it.. filled it up..still nothing.
Let it sit over night, do day pulled the plugs, they were black, covered with gas. I think the gas was because I cranked and cranked it but nothing was happening...and it flooded. So I changed the spark plugs and rotor, still nothing. Checked all the fuses, couldn't find anything wrong...checked my grounds looked fine. Checked for spark, I let 10,000 volts go through my body to make sure I was getting spark,, got spark! Checked the cam arrows..they are pointing in the right direction.
Please someone help...Im running out of ideas!

Mani seeems fine to me, opens and closes as told. Anyone else?
I guess my next thing could be a compression test, but I don't have the tools for that...is there a way to check it with compression thingy?

Maybe its the manifold absolute pressure or whatver check for ecu code..
My CRX Si did this 2 days ago... it died 6-8 times trying to start it REALLY COLD OUT at 4am then i finally got a steady flow of gas.. then i got a code #3 Absolute Manfiold Pressure SOOO i reset ECU and it went away and back to normal no more code or rough idle.. ALSO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH GAS I dont think i did.
Everything is FIXED. now i run 92-93oct 2 days ago i was running 89oct and it acts up like that especially with less then a 1/4 tank left of gas..

look for vaccume (sp?) leaks, also try some water out fuel treatment. i always add that to my tank in the winters and helps with starts. could possibly be a bad iac valve? good luck on fixing it

pump pedal when choking it and then when it starts keep pump then idle it at 1500 for a few secs then let go.. should idle fine after you reset ecu.
do you have more then 1/4 tank of gas?

its not giving me **** now....turns over..but sounds like its not even trying to start.
Check the fuel pressure before turning the key...it was at 35...it should have droped back to 0 when off...atleast after sitting for a half an hour. Oil pressure I think should have gone up...but stayed at 0 when trying to start it.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I know this may sound funny, but I just replaced the igniter on my '99 Si. The car was running fine when I went to the car-wash. I was sitting in my car waiting and as I went to start to move into the wash I got nothing. The car cranked but wouldn't start. I checked for fuel pressure, spark etc. I ruled out the igniter because I had a spark. The spark was weak, but it was there. I replaced the plugs, rotor etc. I even disconnected my MSD ignition system with external coil and went back to stock. After exhausting two days of work I decided to get the igniter. I replaced it and the car started right up as if nothing ever happened. I reconnected my MSD ignition etc. and the car has been perfect for three weeks.
If you have a spare igniter or distributor giver it a try it might work.

QCoffey......thats a good idea...I did get shocked on purpose to see if it was live, but I check the ignitor...it looked real clean..brandnew, no melt, no white. I do have an extra ignitor I'll try it tomorrow. Thanks
checking the ingitor closer..I found a hairline crack in the plastic. My spare ingnitor looks like crap. Are there anyother ingitors I can use other than a 91 integra, In a b16a1?

There are only two styles of igniters that honda makes. Either one will work. The dealer is actually the best place to buy these. I spent $122, I thought this was expensive until I went to a parts store and it was $209. The difference in the two igniters is the way they mount. The connections are the same. All you have to do if it is the style that has a heat sink is to swap the heat sink on the back.
aite update: I had the ingition coil checked...it was good ,even tho it had a crack in it. Replaced the ignitor module, didn't help. The ignitor wasn't a good fit, but it had the same connections, but ofcource still didn't work. So what to do next.
One thing that bothers me is my fuel pressure. I let the car sit over night...checked the pressure this morning it was still at 38psi. I thought the fuel pressure should drop...but I don't remember weither it does or not.
I believe I have more than one thing contributing to the problem...I think I need to start with getting a new distributor. But keep the suggestions comeing...thanks.

aite fokes: I replaced the whole distributor with a brand new one. car still F)*)&*&^ing dead! I guess the next thing I am going to do is work on fuel delivery if no one has anymore suggestions.
Did you see the part where I replaced distributor with a new one? I think Im ruleing out the possiblities that it has to do with distributor. thanks
Also going to do a compresstion test.

if ur floodin everything, an old mechanic told me to ull the wires of of the top of the plugs, let them sit right on top before they snap on, itll cause the coil to have to output a bigger spark to jump the gap, and might trigger what u need
Thank you all for the help. After I replaced the distributor it didn't start. I went to work..and gave the keys to my brother...well give him 15 minutes with the damn thing it starts. He doesn't know why it started, he said he just pulled the plugs/wires and inspected them..put them back on, and set the distributor in the middle. I never bothered with changing the timing with the distributor...it always ran best when fully advanced. So Im still a little stumped, but I should have known this isn't the first time. Car..."Bevin"(the car) has a mind of its own.
Once again thanks to all that gave input, it kept me trying.
