Default help with vafc tuning, vtec x-over.

My boosted h22a runs MUCH better in the lo cams than the hi cans, prolly because of the long valve overlap. I want my car to run as long as possiable in the lo cams. My question, how high it too high rpm for the lo cams?

A boosted H22a should pull fine on the high cam lobes, unless you are running too lean after the high cam lobes engage. Lowering the engagement point is usually good for flattening out your power curve between the cam lobes. It sounds like you have a tuning issue.

Naw he's saying he likes the low cams better than the VTEC ones. He is asking if he raises the VTEC crossover really high if he will have any issues cause the cams usually aren't up in that range.

The answer is that you can run just the low cams as high as you want. the low and high cam lobes are on the same camshaft so they are always spinning as fast as the VTEC lobes so you can't damage them.

The only ting to consider is the the air/fuel for the ecu was made expecting the higher lift/duration . not having the lift won't get as much air in there..it's just some tuning issues I would think

it just dynod my car and it pulls real smooth and hard until it switchs the cams. i think the excessive valve overlap is blowing A/F mixture out the exhaust.

do you have adjstable cam gears? if so, what degree did you set them at (exhaust vs. intake). maladjustment can cause loss of power in the high RPM.
also, when tuning the SFC/VTEC controller you should definately do it on dyno.
that way you can analize what set-up gives you better overall power.

I've never heard of the high cam lobes on an H22 having too much overlap for boost. There are plenty of people boosting these motors. I'm boosting this motor, and it pulls plenty hard on the high lobes, harder than on the low lobes. Are you sure you are not running too lean after the high lobes engage?
